It is been sometime for me since I was using headphones systematically but the way the music is relayed to me by IEMs is an irreplaceable experience.
In terms of soundstage and layering maybe headphones are superior but compared with a good set of earphones they lack in terms of immersion.
I feel a kind of surround sound with headphones which I like .
Ive never owned a headphone before now. So I'm still new to it.
Problem is headphones need powerful gear.
Maybe when I get my Enigma back i can compare.
But already I've lost interest in my v16 iem.
So I fear i may not enjoy the Enigma anymore.
But let's see what happens.

Yes headphones are generally better but I prefer using iem's for portability.

I feel headphone sound is far better .
I didnt hear that kind of separation and clarity from the Enigma nor the v16.

Its only been a month with headphones for me but I'm thinking of shifting to a desktop setup entirely

Can't say I like one over the other. Both have the place and use case. I am in love with both!

The immersion that IEMs give me is so great I exclusively use an IEM on my desktop.

I really love my Focal Clear, and the Enigma seem to be getting better and better. Both have their advantages and uses in my listening. And at the very least, it's sometimes nice to give the earholes a rest from IEMs.

Also just got these last week. Still kind of figuring them out, but in some ways they seem better than the Clear. Or at least on par.

I've owned/heard a good bit of IEMs and I've loved quite a few of them. But not one of them has ever come close to what Over Ear headphones give me. No IEM has ever produced the width of stage, instrument separation, or bass where there is actual physical air being moved that some of my regular headphones are capable of. A great IEM and a DAP is still 100% my choice for audio on the move, but if I'm sitting down at the house to listen to music then I use my desktop setup no question.

Me and headphones don't get on. Wethersfield it's my giant head and dumbo ears I just can't get over the discomfort and sweaty feeling
