That's what I thought as well

Regarding polarity, Brandon replied: "This was only relevant for the original R1 from 2017/18 and has no bearing on any other product."

So ... differences people are hearing must be from actually reversing the polarity I guess.

(Once again, Brandon replying and not Bob. Interesting).

I've tried both these combinations.
All I can make out it that the reversed setup has slight sibilance but tighter bass.
Can't really make out much.
Except it is difficult to keep the iem in place with reverse ear hooks specially with heavy cables

I have received a recent reply from Bob. I wrote to him about the congestion in busy tracks and comparison with the all ba unit
He was kind enough to reply.

Is this what we need to do ? Put the prongs in backwards ?
Because I did and found significant changes.

All my cables have ear hooks .

Sound was tighter and clearer.
It's difficult to manage with reverse ear hooks.
I was confused so I just went back to the original 2 pin setup

Asking the obvious question: Has anyone ever checked with Bob or Brandon if this reverse polarity thing is true?

As far as I understand, this issue will only impact your unit if either the right or left unit is soldered differently inside. If both the units are in sync, then using the cable in either way should not cause any issue. And there is no need to flip the IMR connector from inside, all you have to do just flush your cable in reverse direction in case you want to check if there is any difference. Only IMR cable has the proprietary notch. All the aftermarket cables do not have this notch, so you can easily test it without flipping the IMR female connector from inside.

I'm just using the cable as is.
My ears can't make out any difference today. Plus the iem keeps falling out !
Just think it like a two pin electrical male plug. If the electrical socket is wired correctly from inside, then it does not matter in which direction you are inserting the male plug to the female socket.

Many moons ago Bob stated that the reverse polarity issue was only with the very early sets and it's now as normal polarity setup.

This issue of the reverse polarity statements is cyclical comes around every other year.
That's what I recall too, but reversing the polarity made a change for me. I was surprised too

I had Rah, SEMPER, AVALON, TITAN and now I have ENIGMA, all with polarity reversed.
If you don’t hear a difference in sound, then of course you shouldn’t flip the connectors inside the IMR IEM.
