I've been looking at the Fiio R7 for a while, but never pulled the trigger. Are you liking the R9?
I had an M17 and liked it, I sold it to buy a R9. Yes, I really like the R9.

I have the FIIO M17, but I use it almost always with some Headphone like Dan Clark Audio Stealth or HEDDphone One et I have never really used my IEMs (it's far too bulky). More over, I think it is probably too powerful for such sensitive IEM as Enigma+ .. I will give a try, but I am not sure that is worth to do it.
M17 will not harm ENIGMA, the power is only beneficial.

I advise you to try the graphene cable mixed with pure silver. this makes vocals clearer while keeping a honeyed character and increases the width of the image. it also tightens the bass. It's pure bliss.
I have 2 cables silver and graphene. I plan to ask a craftsman to help me make the silver and graphene hybrid.
Can you share a picture of the cable so I can replicate it?

I was listening with my 7hz Sonus for a few songs and beginning to think I could live with these and sell off all my expensive iem's, then swopped to my Enigma's to hear the difference, and although the Sonus sound very good for their price I wouldn't describe them as beautiful sounding like the Enigma.

I had 7hz Timeless. I remember it being a very special sounding IEM if given enough energy.
But compared with IMR sets it sounded thin, a trait I don't quite respect given the genres I usually
listened too. I wouldn't expect a conventional driver, cheaper IEM from 7Hz to stand against an even
modest priced IEM set. You make me curious sir...
A few days ago, just for the fun of it I pre-ordered the Kotori Vampire.

I completely agree with 7hz timeless. Sweet but thin.
Nowhere near any IMR iem not even r2 aten which was much older.

Kotori Vampire looks amazing. This kind of backstory to an iem and cables (Horus/Ares/Cleopatra/Eros) i find quite funny .

Probably shouldnt compare..they are words apart whenit comes to price !

As I said before, for me, FIIO M17 is far too bulky and heavy to be used with something else than my very difficult to drive headphones (DCA Stealth and HEDDphone One).
I didn't try deeply this morning, but I just did a quick A/B comparison between the M17 and MUB1, both were set in LDAC 909Kbps BT receiver mode ....
I didn't have any specific expectations with trying such bulky combo...
=> I have to admit that this short A/B test pointed out some significant sound quality improvements.

Usually improvements are more or less rather difficult to catch, it rarely offers some day vs night results, but this time,
=> Ultra Lows & Lows are gaining much clearer impacts (less muddy) with still very deep lows available (comparable to IER-Z1R)
=> quite surprisingly, the sound stage width became much larger, something I could get mostly with IER-Z1R and a bit too with IER-M9. I really didn't expect to get anything better on this particular point with the M17.

So, I will probably spend these next weeks some more times with the FIIO M17 and try to use it in various setup with some 1.5Tb micro SD card or set it as DAC receiver connected to my Z Fold 5.
I hope to be able to confirm these first feelings, there is a possibility that something can be wrong in this short A/B comparison in BT receiver mode.

It was good to realise how far apart they are and made me respect the Enigma even more. It could be a good trick for reviewers? Listen with a very cheap set first and then switch to the much more expensive set to instantly hear the finer details.

I want to note that the combination of Ibasso DC Elite + ENIGMA+ is also very impressive, it sounds very cool.

Try listening to ENIGMA+ with a FiiO LC-RE cable. I liked the sound of ENIGMA so much with this cable that I ordered an 8-wire, FiiO LC-RE Pro 2022

Also agree. I got the Timeless just a few weeks after getting the Elan back in 2021. Timeless were good, but they definitely lacked the presence of the Elan, and they didn't get much ear time. I sold them after 6 months because I just wasn't using them.
