I ordered the Zeta Flat and Port C-PADS and just got the Beyer Head Band Mod for my MS-1 and both of these mods do improve the sound and comfort of my MS-1. I had both of these mods before and really enjoyed them. Now I am thinking about getting the MS-1 re cabled and the screens replaced with the 225 screens. LARRY at Headphile will do this work.

My question is do you think the re cabling and screens will be worth the mod at around 100.00? Oh and I am using a 25' Grado extension cable so will the re cabling still be worth it? Any thoughts on this?

Just one more thought. I could sell the MS-1 and buy the 225 and have the screens and the C-pads will tame the 225 highs. I am confused about all this. LOL. HELP.

IMHO no, not when you can DIY it yourself for less than $25... unless there is something black-magical about the cable he uses. IMHO recable-ing is partially a placebo too, be it a DIY or pro job.

**edit** in response to your second post, there are some on this forum who believe Alessandros are simply Grados with the ID button removed from the screen. The sound reflecting off the ID button is what enhances Grado mids over Alessandro mids. So in that light, yes replacing the SR225 screen with a generic one should yield a different sound. I'm not agreeing with or denying this.

The point is moot, Lou's MS-1 is on the sale forums. He always gives a nice price tho, check it out, only $85 shipped!

HI: How are you. I thought the re cabling would be a wast because of the Grado 25' extension cable I use and that was the only way to get the 225 screens. So I thought about it and thought the 225 already has the screens and might sound a little better. The 225 screens do add air, sound stage so now for my 6th pair of 225. LOL.

Oh I got the 225 new at 8th street music here in PHILA for 165.00 total price.

Hey I know that store, it's right next to Chinatown! That's a great price for a new SR225!

Hey Lou - You've been through a lot of headphones but you seem to love the 225's. Do you keep coming back to them because you do in fact like them a lot or are you just making the rounds for fun again?

I mean, having owned the 225's that many times says something. I like my 225's a lot but am considering trying the RS-1 (again that is...yes I have a slight disease too) but I'm not sure what I want to do. What is it that makes you keep coming back to them? They are great cans.

HI: I really don't what to make of it? I keep buying new headphones to try out and wind up back with the 225? No explanation would make any sense I don't think. I really like the MS-1 but the more open screen of the 225 and closer matched drivers keep messing with my head. And now with the new C-Pads with ports just keep calling me. My Zeta Flat and Port C-PADS are now made up and might ship out later today. I already bought another Beyer head band and have it on the new 225. So the answer to your question is ????? I just don't know but am having lots of fun if that counts.
