hi all,

new to really understanding cans and amps and so on. i'm looking at getting a new set of headphones to go with my minibox-e and modified ipod. what i need to understand is the relationship between voltage output on an amp and impedence in a headphone and what it all means. is there an article i can read up on, or is someone willing to write up a short essay on how they all come together?

btw, i'm currently looking at the DT770's (on test drive courtesy of guitar center), and the equation audio rp21's. any other suggestions for a set of cans for listening (house, trance, some classical and jazz) that can be amped with a minibox-e?

thanks.

Lots of articles about this... here's one: http://www.rane.com/hc6hp.html

The bottom line is that a lot depends on how loud you want to turn your babies up. I'm listening to 600 ohms cans that are supposed to be very hard to drive (for dynamics anyway) out of my USB-powered soundcard right now.
