Just to tell you that my iMP 550 having problems reading some audio CDs was replaced. The new unit works fine. So far I tried it with several Audio Cds both burned and pressed that were giving me trouble before, the new unit reads them perfectly.
The serial # of the new unit is only slightly different from the old one (8 instead of 0 in the last digit). It is likely thet they are both from the same batch, which means that perhaps it's not a batch problem, i.e. the defect is randomly present.

Could you give more details on what kind of trouble did you have?
And where did you buy it from?
I just ordered from Amazon, and slightly worried to read about these problems..

my unit's # ends with a '7'

yours could've been a batch problem. at least i hope so. and mine also read from burned and pressed perfectly.
