Can anyone tell me why the 5.5g iMod conversion only affects the docking port and not the headphone out? It would seem that if Vinnie is replacing some important components internally, that it would affect the headphone out also.
Any techies out there that can answer this?
Thanks.

This is applicable to the 4g but not 5g, as I'm sure Z knows. Actually I reckon (heh) it's because there is a specific pin on the DAC from which the line out signal can be taken, so that is the only path that is modified. Another signal off of the DAC is probably going to the internal hp amp and out to the top hp jack.

I can confirm that on the 5+ gen iMod, the headphone out is still active as a headphone out. It's kind of handy if you and a friend want to listen at the same time. Of course who gets to listen to the cleaner signal could cause an argument.
