iMod.. Discontinued soon?

Where have you heard these rumors? Your best bet is to email Red Wine directly instead of listening to rumors, IMHO.

I shouldn't think that Red Wine would discontinue this very popular mod; they have even extended the mod to the 5th generation iPods. I just wish they had a mod for Nanos, too, but I don't think they have any plans to do so.

Why would Vinnie do that? All he does is mod them (not manufacture) and they are getting plenty of requests.

i don't see any reason why he shouldn't continue modding them -- that's an agreement between vinnie and the customer.

i can see a situation where he doesn't sell modded ipods if his channel for getting refurbed ipods is cut off.

like another poster said, best to contact rwa directly.

For mere mortals modding the iPod is as difficult as going to the moon, for an electronic wizard like Vinnie, probably he did each one mod in half a day, maybe less - there's no reason for him to stop modding since the demand is very high - ever since I joined Head-Fi until today, I never cease to hear iMod mentioned everyday.

FYI Vinnie does not provide refurbed ready made iMods anymore because that mantle has been passed to Ken of ALO, Vin only concentrates on the mod alone.

As mentioned above, get in touch with Vinnie himself, he's a champ with communication

I think what the OP read and mistakenly concurred was that the supply of 4G iPods were drying up, and thus so was the iMod run.

All,

EFN is correct... the iMod is NOT going anywhere.

I also think that TheMarchingMule is correct as well with this statement:

This is true, but as long as my customers can get their hands on the 4th gen iPods and send them to me for the iMod, I will continue to offer them as well as the newer 5G/5.5G iMods.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions (or hear any rumors that I need to stop

Best regards,

Vinnie

Hmmmm........I think maybe Vinnie should have waited until squashing the rumour, because " noremedy" was going to RUSH to get the imod, but now theres no rush...lol

That being the case, perhaps it is best to change the title of this thread. Some new person will come along, read the title and infer the iMod is being discontinued and not read further.

Why perpetuate the unfounded rumor by leaving the thread title as it stands?
