I currently use an 80GB iPod 5G (video) converted to an iMod, and then through my LOD with BG caps into my iBasso D10. This all feeds my Sennheiser IE8s, all of which I have to admit are getting a bit long in the tooth, so I'm contemplating a possible upgrade to my source gear.

I love the clear highs of my current setup, as well as the bass impact. Soundstage too.

Any recommendations for upgrades?

Since I know I love my current setup - I was wondering if I should just do either:

iMod + D12 (upgrade my D10 to a D12)
DX100
DX90/DX50

Why the DX50 and not the D12, out of curiosity? And what is the DX90? I do apologise - haven't been keeping up to date with current products!

I haven't heard the D12 but I've read good things about it. I thought you were asking from DAPs though. The DX90 is going to be released in March and is the model between the 50 and 100. Here is the thread:

I would really recommend to wait for the DX90 but if you really can't wait then the DX50 is also a great choice. Check out my review in my signature.

I've waited 5 years - what's several more months or even another year? No rush. Do you know when it will be released, and at what price point?

It is said to be under $500 and on the first of March. I think the price may be closer to $400 though.

I have the same setup, but with the D12, driving either my Westone 4R IEMs or my Grado SR325i. Sounds fabulous (although a bit on the bright side with the Grados). The D12 is however more expensive than the DX50… I doubt the DX50 will do better than my setup, but I have not been able to fnd any comparison on any forum between the iMod and the DX50, as I am also tempted by the DX50 (or DX90 for that matter).
