Hello, all.

I'm getting ancy. I know my birthday hasn't come yet, but I'm almost positive I'm not getting any phones for it. Supposing I don't, would it be better to wait and save up for the phones I really want, or buy something cheaper that I can afford now? I suppose I should be more specific.

What I really want are some good *closed* headphones. Closed is the key. The Ultrasone HFI-650's have entranced me, and I'd love to get them, but unfortunately the best I can afford right now by myself is the Sony MDR-V6's. =^/ I've heard they go for ~$60, but the cheapest place I can find them is $70 at millionbuy. Any better places?

They're not what I *really* want, but they'd be fine for unamped use with a portable and I'm sure I'd be happy with them. I'm not certain if I can make it without getting some sealed phones before the new semester starts *_*

What to dooooo???? (Sorry, it's 1:45 am and I'm rather tired and whiny

Erm... take a peek at my profile...

Too many pairs there... and I still don't think I have what I really want... lol

do what your gut instinct tells you to do... the MDR-V6 are pretty decent... and should keep you happy...

Then... When money allows... Upgrade!

Have you considered buying something used, say on the For Sale forum, or on eBay? You might find that you can get into something that will fulfill your longer term wants right away.

Of course, it's not like it's going to be the LAST pair of headphones you ever buy. Trust me on that one...

If you can wait: save up and get the best you can.

If you can't wait: but used so that you can sell them later with minimal loss compared to buying new.

Far too often we compromise and get something cheap, not realizing that it just costs us more and more money to keep doing this. I'm a fan of getting a used set for temp use while saving up for the cans I'm really wanting to buy. And every time you want to make a small step toward your dream cans, just wait! You'll thank me later.

Thanks for the replies.

Used sounds like it might be a good idea...
Besides the marketplace here, what are other good places to buy used heaphones and audio equipment?
