im716 to triple.fi 10 pro, a good upgrade?

Just bought one from a fellow on the forums, it was an impulse buy

What I'm thinking is more forward midrange, better bass impact,bigger soundstage and less rolled off highs. I think the separation on my im716 is pretty good but maybe it's because I haven't heard better since I don't own any better. If I decide to keep the triple.fi then I will probably compare them against the upcoming q-JAYS ( Claus-DK has done a very good comparison of the q-JAYS vs E500

). The triple.fi will run off my cowon d2. I also read the UE cables are quite bad in quality and should be swapped.
I also read some mixed comments about the triple.fi vs the e500,so I cannot decide who I should believe. I have never tried a UE phone so I don't really know what its sound signature is like compared to ety. I also read about the X3 having super.fi like sound and I have heard the X3 but ended up being disappointed about it then thought it was overhyped.

Also, I see these IEMs stick out awkwardly like they might fall right off with the swipe of my hand. How well does it say in the ear?

Should I expect a day and night difference against im716? I listen to a lot of rock, some orchestrated music and acoustic. On a rare occasion I listen to some pop.

I'm pretty confident from recollection that the Triple.Fi is a significant improvement in most areas. I felt most of the improvement was in the highs and bass, with little improvement in the mids.

What I could not deal with, however, was the horrible ergonomics and entry design. The Triple.Fi will give less of a seal and (considering that you use Soft Flex sleeves) will be less comfortable.

well, the thing is that theres 2 sides to every argument,
while you have the IM716 which is based on Etymotic tech, the Etymotic tend to be more accurate and analitical, even if the sound isnt as warm or entertaining as other headphones,

while the ultimate ears super.fi series has a warmer sound which caters more to entertain then to accuracy,

on the other hand, the Antec lensing are quite low on the scale compared to other Etymotic IEM´s and its accuracy and speed will surly be lower then the Triple.Fi 10,

someone should make a chart that shows where IEM´s sit between analitical and warm/entertaining,

Actually, the iM716 is better than the ER4P but worse than the ER4S.

I think the TF10P is a very accurate-sounding IEM though.

weird, i always thought that the antec lensing Ety´s were low impendanse and lower quality then actuall Etys

I own the triple.fi 10, UE5customs, and the E4. I would say the triple.fi 10 sound damn good, but you'll need to use foam to get a good fit. It's really hard to get a good fit w/ the regular soft sleeve. Obviously, the customs fit the best, and I would highly suggest going the custom rought. I feel that once you get your customs, you will have no reason for selling your IEM and upgrading. It's just so comfortable and it sound really good. If you must go universal, I shure black olive sleeve is best. I use it with my E4 and it's pretty comfortable, it's no where near the comfort level as my UE5c, but it's good enough.

If you want more forward mids you prolly should not get the TF10's, as you'll be disappointed most likely.
TF10 is generally described as excellent highs, good soundstage (for IEMs), recessed mids.
E500 might be more in your lane, those are reported to have prominent mids, but rolled off highs, so it's kind of a trade-off.

I've never listened to the e500, I'll tell you that now, but if you're really into upfront coloured mids you most likely won't like the Triple Fi.
With that said, I really like my TF's though.
About the fit, they are definitely not loose since they wrap around your ears, there is no real chance of them falling off.

I hope the bass isn't like the e500, read many reviews of the e500 defined as very bassy but I don't need so much.

Did anyone ever see that thread about the triple.fi fitting in the ear with pictures? I tried 30 minutes looking for it and I can't find it anymore...

I found the Triple Fi sound slightly more pleasing than E530 but the fit is a deal breaker so I went with E530's

If you have enough power the IM716's can sound very good, but not quite up to Triple fi/E500 level.

I can only imagine how much the OP could benefit from a Supermini... both of his/her cans benefit from a 75ohm adapter which is built into the Supermini, also delivering the right amount of power to the IM716s (well, and the KSCs, too).

Not just a supermini, any amp, even one of the cheaper amps in the $50 range, would be of great benefit. As for the resistive load to add, that's personal preference. I, personally, wouldn't use that high a load with the im716 as the sound change wouldn't be to my tastes. Maybe in bass mode with 75ohms added to it, but that's a big maybe.

The im716 (ER4 driver) is great and from the consensus on the forum, moving up to the higher price range IEM will only yield a different signature style sound. May not be better due to preference. I myself do not enjoy head pounding bass that put tension on my ears. I like the really tight bass which makes the im716 and HD595 a perfect fit. Do a comparison and keep us updated.
