That mic doesn´t have noise cancelling. Since most headsets are pure crap it will work better then 90 % of them anyway. You don´t need "5.1" headphones anyway but some stereo headphones have better "surround" then others.

I'd just buy a Koss KSC75 and Logitech USB mic. Unless that "hip teen" look is a factor.

the harx700 is a great gaming can. full mids and highs, booming bass. any clip on mic should do u fine.
if u must have a boom mic headset- the best sounding in your range is a steelsound 4h (and i've had them all-almost). nice airy sound, large soundstage, some bass. great mic.

most clip on mics are NOT noise cancelling. for that you need a real headset. under 65$ the steelsound 4h is best. if you can stretch your budget, the ultrasone hs-15 and the sennheiser pc350 are both decent but expensive. the lower senn headsets sound like garbage , icemats are garbage and arent really a headset (they come with a clip on mic). the plantronics gamecom 377 are ok, huge, great mic, but lack the sparkle of the steelsound.
the ksc75 sounds great but is an earclip and has no soundstage- its just too small.

try this- harx700 for 38$ from buy.com
zalman clip on mic- or any other clip on mic for 8$
steelsound 4h for 30$ (you can find it at that price if u search)

use the harx700/clip on for light duty gaming and get the biggest sound. for heavy duty clan/team/guild times- use the steelsound

The best? Not by a long shot. Good compared to a song and a dance... by a hair.

Your best bet is a decent pair of headphones (JVC HARX700's) and a clip on mic or desktop mic. You can't beat that for under $50 ($35 for the headphones and $10-15 for the mic). Or the JVC HARX900's for $57 - they are not closed like the 700's, but semi-open (better soundstage).

The zalman clip on mic works fine, and doesn't pick up any background noise... unless you have a large cooling fan blaring in your face.
