Yeah I really would have liked a power supply added to it too. The one they recommended to pair with it is the Ifi iPower and that's about 50 usd...I agree wholeheartedly! Why would you not charge $5-$10 more and include the darn power supply?!

iFi ZEN DAC discussion + impression

Is this amp class a? I read somewhere
Wondering if this one also follows that design choice. All iFi products boast Class A analogue circuitry with no DSP and the signal stays ‘Bit Perfect’ throughout.
They commented on FB that yes, you can use both, usb port and alternatively a 5v third party power supply. So, you can operate the DAC from the box via usb power.
"It can run on 5 volts or USB. The 5 volts supply will over-ride the USB when both are connected. There is an indicator light to tell you which its running on."
My question is: how the ZEN DAC performs in comparison with xDSD (in DAC mode)? Has anyone tried to compare?

That statement seems dated. Not all their products have no-dsp/bitperfect mode, not all their products are class-A.Is this amp class a? I read somewhere Wondering if this one also follows that design choice.

If possible a general review of the new Zen DAC would be greatly appreciated. Indeed the xDSD is more mid-high end whilst the Zen is entry. Love to hear more about it from any early adopters please. ty

Wait, the ZEN DAC does come with the 5v power supply brick?Just wanted to point out they do include a stock 5V power supply. You can upgrade to an iFi iPower/X or LPS, but for an entry level device I wouldn’t recommend it.
I hope they are not that different in DAC section, at least. xDSD has more features like bluetooth, optical/coaxial inputs.Indeed the xDSD is more mid-high end whilst the Zen is entry.
Yes, let's wait for the first reviews and comparison.

It’s probably an error on their website. When I asked my local dealer he said only zen blue comes with a power supply, that and I never got one with my zen dac.Just wanted to point out they do include a stock 5V power supply. I have pre-ordered mine in one of UK shops. Will be shipped within a week.

Do you have the option to set / choose 24bit or 16 bit?

The manual is incorrect. My Zen DAC was just delivered, no power supply included. It does come with short USB and RCA cables though.
Huh, iFi is usually pretty good about including a bunch of accessories with their products so this surprises me.
Maybe their smps manufacture didn’t deliver on schedule.
