iFi DSD Diablo balanced out question.

I made a 4.4mm to 2 x RCA, the negatives not used at all, works a treat Diablo to single ended amp, tried it on a Schiit Heresy, perfect.

Cables I have seen advertised indicate an entirely different wiring set up which is not suitable in this application, the negatives will be grounded and the ground wont be connected at all.

I have two different 4.4mm male to 3.5mm female balanced to single ended adapters coming which should achieve the same thing using a standard 3.5mm to 2 x RCA cable, I’ll report back.

Second photo added, Diablo into Heresy with the cable below. No I am not suggesting using a $1,000 DAC with a $100 amp, the Heresy was just a convenient way to demonstrate it with everything in one picture.

Thanks and it's all good. If it works, it works :)

Jump over to the main Diablo thread, I just posted an explanation for another guy in detail.

In short:

The TIP of the 4.4mm will go to the TIP of the LEFT channel RCA.

The MIDDLE RING of the 4.4mm will go to the TIP of the RED/RIGHT channel RCA.

The SLEEVE of the 4.4mm will go to the SLEEVES of the BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT RCA.

The NEGATIVES are NOT CONNECTED AT ALL - most important.

You can use an adapter and a readily available 3.5mm to 2 x RCA cable which is much simpler, see Diablo thread.
