I have updated to 5.3c FW and everything it's ok, so it turns to magenta on MQA. One and only doubt... why it shows me only yellow light in other music format, even if DSD? It seems to have lost the green and the other lights, everything but yellow and magenta. Thanks

Mine showing Blue when playing DSD (tested on 64 and 128) if you are using Foobar, in the set up.. File>Preference>Output>Device>choose DSD:Asio:ifi(by AMR) HD USB Audio.

So I decided to buy this! I wonder how it sounds with Fostex TH610? Any experience?

Would I also need Zen Can?

Hi there, none on the headphones. Basically DAC/amp combos are fine and work well on their own BUT added a separate dedicated amp into the mix WILL always be better. i seen some good stuff about the ZEN CAN on other sites. need to check out the thread here next.

We're really pleased and proud. This means that Editors of some of the world's top audio/tech magazines have tried and tested the ZEN DAC and found it worthy of this award. See the winner's video below! Bit nifty!

So, thanks to the EISA team and mucho thanks to you guys for your continued support of iFi and our efforts. :raised_hands:

Grats! This makes me really glad I pulled the trigger on the Zen DAC all those months ago not long after it launched. Cheers!

I recently purchased Zen DAC in order to use it as standalone balanced DAC with Topping A90 XLR balanced input with my Focal Elex headphone. Initially, I connected A90 with E30, but I returned E30 after I listened Zan DAC + A90 combo through balanced setup. This is so powerful. I can barely pass 10 o'clock now. Sound stage and clarity are another level comparing with E30. E30 was not bad, but it made thin sound. Of course, E30 might make different sound in different setup.
I have a question though. For the recent purchase of Zen Dac, is firmware updated already? How can I check if it is already updated. Also, do you like GTO filter in firmware update? Thank you in advance!

in my ears, somehow I like Zen Dac Truebass more compared to Xbass at Zen Can. Truebass gives sense of lifting the real low into wider, punchier & deeper in natural/analog way, while Xbass just can't meet the quality low from Truebass.

Foobar, Flac 16 bit Sting My Song (Live) - Zen Dac (using power bank) + Zen Can (using iFi Power adaptor)

You can check the firmware version by opening the dfuapp.exe file. This link on the ifi site explains the installation & use of the firmware. I believe the Zen Dac usually comes with version 5.3 so you need to install 5.3c to get the GTO filter. Firmware installation instructions: https://ifi-audio.com/firmware/unified-firmware-for-various-products/ (click on the link at the top of the page he reads “Installation Instructions” ) This explains how to check the firmware installed on your device.

What @hag6 wrote is a spot on to know your product's FW version.
