iFi audio ZEN Blue - The Official Thread

We're waiting on this update. What do you mean "if this is possible"?

One of the promises when buying this unit was that new codecs would be added when available! That codec has been available for a long time now. Where is the update?
The BT has to be able to support APTx Lossless not all do!

Even in the phone market, there are very few devices (it is growing) that support this, it is an evolving market.

I will ask again if it is possible for the unit to support this.

Support may shed more light on this than I can...

Cheers!!

One of the selling points of the Zen series was the ability to add new codecs as they became available. Is iFi going to add Lossless to the Zen One Signature?
I have inquired about this and will post here as soon as I get a response.
Is this Zen Blue 3 both a bluetooth receiver and transmitter? Your site advertises wireless capabilities for headphones but the model is wearing wired headphones
I answered in the other thread as well, but both TX and RX.

Cheers!!

@iFi audio :

i am about to buy the iFi Zen Blue v3. may i please ask a few questions please? Thank you in advance.

1) has anyone tried to use another antenna that might offer superior range please (on their v1 or v2)? i.e. one of those antennas with a long cable so one may place the antenna in a good location slightly away from the Zen Blue unit itself, and it may offer superior range performance?

2) the v1 Zen Blue uses a round antenna. the v2 Zen Blue uses an IMPROVED round antenna with a FLATTENED portion and it improves range significantly (they claim 80% better). oddly now, with v3 of the Zen Blue, they have REVERTED back to the v1 lower range antenna(!) which is beyond any logical reasoning!! the v3 costs $299 and there's no reason to skimp on a $3 antenna!

3) i'm using a Samsung android tablet (current top of the line model) to stream Apple Music Classical via Bluetooth to the iFi Zen Blue v3, which in turn is connected via RCA L+R to my Anthem AVR. my understanding is that this combination of my Samsung tablet and the Zen Blue v3 would allow the bluetooth connection to be using LDAC at around 900 kHz. Is this combination the best i can do for Apple Music Classical besides using a forest of cables and an Apple Mac laptop, etc? my audio visual equipment are all on racks inside a media closet which is around 45 feet away from the listening chair's position..

look forward to hearing. thank you in advance.

APTX Lossless would be your best codec. As good as a cable for CD quality. It should be added soon, but we haven't received word as to when yet.

thank you kindly for your reply.

fyi: i use the Samsung S24 Ultra phone, and will continue to upgrade annually to the next Samsung phone. the S24 Ultra does not support aptX of any sort.

btw, once i get the Zen Blue v3 unit, and fyi i'm using a Samsung S24 Ultra phone and a Samsung android tablet, how would i specify which one of the codecs to be used to communicate with the Zen Blue v3 please?

is there a choice options menu? i don't see one on the bluetooth menu of my Samsung tablet.

i don't understand how we'd choose which option please.

thank you.

Hello folks,

Regarding APTx Lossless coming to the previous Zen Blue versions I am told unfortunately the chip does not support this and would not be possible.

Sorry for any confusion but the chip does need to be able to support this, and if we could we would.

Cheers!!
