Good review! An I don't doubt it, the Pro iDSD is phenomenal! I really liked one of the closing statements below!

Most importantly, this comprehensiveness didn't make iFi's most ambitious DAC mediocre, merely good or even great but truly fabulous

It's outside my price range, but having heard it more than once, I have to say it's at the top of my want list!!!

Has the xDSD been compared to likes of other Apple-compatible products such as the Cypher 720 or iFi’s own iDSD?

Also I started having serious issues with bluetooth!
No way to make the xDSD connect to any device!
Never gets to pairig mode...

Folks, the 5.3C Firmware is ALIVE!

It does two things:

• Minor bug fixes and optimisations
• Adds Gibbs Transient Optimised Digital (GTO) Filter
  (This replaces the Minimum Phase Filter.)

Since xDSD does not have Minimum Phase Filter, is this update not affected to xDSD?

So, I have been using xDSD quiite a bit lately, and man, I love the feature that you can press on the volume button to mute. This makes less sense for something desktop, maybe, but for something you keep strapped to your phone, it is great to have around.

I use my XBA-Z5 with a balanced cable (4.4mm) out of my ZX300, to use them with my Oppo HA-2 I have an adapter so I can use it's 3.5mm output. I've read xDSD reviews that make reference to balanced output - is there any benefit in using a balanced cable/iem with the xDSD? Is there a special 3.5mm required? Is someone able to please explain how this works please.
Also, is anyone able to compare with the Oppo HA-2 - thanks

For balanced out you need a 3.5mm TRRS plug wired L+ R+ L- R- . As for any benefit in using balanced, some but not as much as in other DAPs or amps because the xDSD delivers half the benefit of balanced output using a single ended TRS plug. I just made a short adapter for my AK wired 2.5mm TRRS headphones.

It affects all our hardware, xDSD included.

I've settled on buying the xDSD as my new mobile dac, will do so in a few days and will report back my impressions!

The setting will be 50% mobile and 50% desktop use: I was thinking of buying a few accessories to better the sound while usb connected at home. My setting would be: macbook pro to xDSD to my amp.

With a budget of around 250 euros I was thinking of a IFI iUSB Power (used) plus a IFI iPurifier2 (or 3). This way I would take care of the power and the usb sides. Would those make a big difference? Would you suggest something else around that price?
