Has anyone tried using opt/coax to connect to a FiiO X5/X3 II to use as a dac/amp? Don't really want to buy a new touchscreen dap, and the xDSD checks all my requirements for a portable dac/amp (balanced out, digital in, good sq and power, can work with multiple devices)

I love the pairing of FIIO X5 3rd gen with xDSD. It makes a big upgrade to me, either with the Cascade or Dunu DN-2002.
I`m waiting for an OTG cable to go with my new Shanling M0. My X5 will probably retired.

Hey I have an xdsd that I love with my CA Andromedas. However CA doesn’t offer 3.5mm balances cables so I am wondering if I can make a 3.5mm balanced(male) to 2.5mm(female) balanced adapted will work balanced with the xdsd?

So that way I can plug my 2.5mm balances cable into an adapter like that and get balanced signal

I think yes according to the person that did all of my balanced cables. I have 3 balanced cables from him with 2.5mm male connector. I asked the same question how I can use them with xDSD balanced and he told me yes I can do a special connector only for this. At the moment I have a 3.5 male to 2.5 female but unbalanced for all my cables from the same person. I need a new one for xDSD.

Hey I have a question...so is the xdsd available in two different finishes? I know there's the chrome color, but there are also pictures around of a darker almost black version. Are there two color choices or was the darker model just a prototype or something else?

Only available in one color, but on the photos on the box it looks more like black. Asked my dealer the same question.

Yeah its a trick of the lighting and I found the same thing myself when taking the pics that the xDSD came out quite dark.
