Hi all,

Has someone tried a final audio D8000 with iFi Audio iDSD Pro ?

Cheers,

Vincent
I own both. There's good synergy. I find the Pro to be dynamic, with pretty good resolution. To me the D8000 is more fun (compared to some other DACs I have) but still detailed with the Pro. The fun comes from the bass and dynamic quality of this combo. I particularly like this combo for shorter listening sessions where I grab a scotch and relax. You don't feel forced into listening very closely, you just groove to the music from the very beginning.

I think iFi even demos their gear with D8000 sometimes. Smart choice.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm still waiting for the D8000 t oarrive next week.

As I'm really tired of the Hugo TT (too much digital and difference vs my Asus STX sound card are very subtle) I'll resell it and move to the idsd,

Cheers,

Vincent,

Does anyone has problem with internet streaming using iDSD? I can rarely have one song played without popping. Really really annoying. I have tried both MUZO (iOS&Android) and my SP1000 with it. Same random popping.

Can some one please give me some tips on this?

Would the great people at Ifi-Audio consider making a Lite or Special Edition of the idsd pro that is more affordable or higher in value-add to those who already have a head amp they love and do not need the redundant features of the current design? I would envision the iDSD Pro Lite to be a DAC-only device and cost 40% less and run cooler by the same. :))

Think you just described the iDSD Micro (Black Label). Has dual dac chips instead of 4 like the Pro and handles up to DSD512. No tubes so runs much cooler and can run on battery for even cleaner power. Also costs 1/5th the price but can actually output more power to its internal amp (SE only; 4W in Turbo mode vs, iirc, 1.5W on the Pro).

I am already using the BL (and loving it) decked out with iUSB3 and ICAN PRO. But the iDSD's DAC portion is much more versatile and the inbuilt upsampling settings are what makes me with for an iDSD Lite :)

A version without the word clock and wireless/network features would be a good I reckon. Output could be 4.4mm and 6.3mm as everything else can be connected with adaptors.

Brother this drove me berzerk. What solved it for me was: Better Power cable going to the brick for the IDSD, addition of the igalvanic 3.0 and 2 1.5m Mercury 3.0 cables into the motherboard and the galvanic.

I thought the stock power brick is decent enough. And I remembered that on Amazon, the iFi team said that you basically do not need those fancy USB cables to improve anything. And my problem is when using the internet streaming, does that has anything to do with the USB part? I have no issues using anything else.

Thanks
