iFi audio NEO Stream - Sweet Streams!

I think this might have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but is there any benefit to using a better PSU for the optibox ?
I have not found one yet, I have tried an iPower 5v, and a linear PS and to me, there was no difference. Perhaps some type of "Battery Pack" might yield some difference, but at the moment I cannot test that.

Cheers!!

Paging Mr @iFi audio.

I have a problem with the Optibox that came with my Neo. Over the last few weeks my Neo would stop playing and after doing all the usual fixes that normally resolved things I got it playing again. However today nothing was working so I thought I'd try and take the Optibox out of the equation and revert to ethernet. While doing this I noticed the cable at the end that goes into the Neo was a bit loose and this presumably is causing my issue. The Neo is working fine with ethernet in the meantime, so I wonder if it would be possible to arrange for a replacement Optibox to be sent to me? I bought from Amazon back on November 15th, the only option they provide is to return the Neo as a whole for a refund which I obviously do not want to do because it is only the Optibox that is not functional. Are you able to arrange for someone from iFi to contact me, or perhaps you can deal with this directly?

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about your issue with our OptiBox. Can I please trouble you with opening a ticket at our support platform here: https://support.ifi-audio.com

Someone from our team will get back to you shortly to help you out, thanks!

I bought NEO STREAM last year and use it on Roon with chord Qutest and Optibox.

With 2.15.19 the drops have decreased considerably, but I still get one drop every 15 minutes or so and another drop after an hour or so.

I think it would be a little better if I could set the buffer size for Roon Ready by myself, but I wonder if it will be supported in the next firmware.

I would think that decision would fall to Roon itself, but you can use the NS in AIO mode, and that would still give you that ability.

I have actually experienced drops with Roon itself ever since the new update, far and few between but I have had them, along with some other weird behaviors that I have never had with Roon, I'm sure that they will sort it out.

Cheers!!

I tried switching to AIO, but no improvement.

That sounds pretty unacceptable to me. Is this both with and without optibox?
It is no different without Optibox

Are you using HQPlayer with Roon? I've no stats or figures to back it up but over the period of the two months I've had the Neo my gut feeling is that I get more drop outs if I'm also using HQP, whether with Optibox or not.

Hi! I tried to install the latest beta and It has caused my NS to become unresponsive. Powering on and off don't really do much.
When turned on, it showed an IP address only, but doesn't really respond to button clicks. I do not have access to the whole menu structure and cannot connect via browser.

I have tried to hold down the factory reset button for 3-5 seconds but nothing happens.

Any suggestions or did the update brick my device?

Thanks.

The same happened to me, perhaps about a month ago. I did get it back to Prod version. Leave it with me and I'll try to remember how lol. Or hopefully somebody quicker than me sorts it out for you. Main thing is, I think you'll be ok (famous last words)

Found the advice I got from Mr Bubbahyde - unfortunately you need to be in the menu. It was about a month ago so memory is hazy, but I'm sure that like yourself at first I couldn't get into the menu, but i did manage it eventually. I'm guessing I rebooted my router, perhaps you could try that.
Anyway, here's what you need to do if you do get in menu, just open link below(the first post on page 46 if link doesnt work).

Thank you. Unable to navigate to that menu as of yet, I will keep trying. Might be time to open a ticket though.

Perhaps clutching at straws here, but sometimes with network/computer based equipment like the Neo it is better to do a hard reboot, eg unplug power from the wall rather than just recycle the equipment with the on/off button. You may already have done this of course :relaxed:

I tried unplugging from power for 10 minutes and then replugging and letting it sit there for 10 mins untouched.
tried with various combinations of cables plugged in and out too. :frowning2:
