I thought there may be that danger. In my head I think I would plan to save up and eventually pair it with the ican se which sounds like it will deliver the power and musicality. Up until seeing this I was going to get the Dragonfly Red (a big improvement I gather over an iPhone headphone out) and then save up for the ican se or alternative if anyone knows of a great musical amp at around £250/$300? The nano idsd black may be a great one size fits all (probably kidding myself).
maybe pair it with itube. will probably solve the musicality but i do not think that the inano lacking in power

Mine's been delivered from Future Shop in the UK and is waiting for me when I get home this evening :). If anyone is interested I can post my first impressions later tonight.
Yes please. I already have the iFi micro iDSD Black Label Edition and I LOVE it but I am looking at this Nano BL for it's MQA to use with Tidal. Thanks!

I love the look of the itube but if I used the idsd as the dac and line out to the itube will I be able to also line in to the idsd and use the headphone out? I am assuming not so I would need to buy 2 headphone amps. How does ifi see using the itube in their current ecosystem?

This has been answered somewhat in the iTube thread. The micro iDSD is designed with the iTube in mind, so absolutely you can line out from iDAC to line-in iTube2 and line-out back into the iDSD to make use of the headphone jack. I am not sure about the nano iDSD, but if it\s anything like it's big brother I would assume yes? Maybe @iFi audio can answer.

A couple of quick phone pictures, sorry for the poor quality. :)

The unit works with the Shanling M1, so that's good, with my cable it doesn't work with the HTC 10 though, which is a pity as I was going to test the pairing for RF interference. I currently have my phone right next to the Nano and there is no interference, which is something I can't do with Mojo, so that's a good start.

Initial impressions are that the sound is very similar to the DFR, from memory though, I haven't compared them directly yet.

Hopefully I can find some time to compare the Nano BL with the DFR and Mojo soon.

In order to make sure it is ready to use with my phone every night, I have to remember to to plug it into a USB charger.

If the battery is flat in battery mode, the iDSD nano will use power from a device (same way non-battery powered USB DAC's do with phones), but it will not charge the battery. So it remains usable even with a flat battery (unlike the original iDSD nano).

What happens if one leaves the iFi Nano BL powered on and connected to a powered USB port 24x7?

If you power it up in USB mode, it will charge the battery and then simply remain on continuous.

If you power it up in Battery mode, it will deplete the battery and then start pulling power from the USB connection but not charge the battery.

Does it shut off at some point due to no signal?

No.

Are there any negative impacts to using it purely for desktop?

The iOne nano is really the product focused on desktop/home use, but the iDSD nano BL will be fine as well.

You can't do this with the nano BL - it has no analogue input.

Using the Shanling M1 as the source.

I upgraded the F/W to the 5.3 (MQA Beta) version and I'm getting pops/clicks now, one or two every track, I didn't notice these before I upgraded, but then again I only listened for about half an hour on 5.2. Does anybody else notice this? I can't downgrade back to 5.2 at the moment to see if its only an issue with 5.3 because I don't have the cable.

The light is also white for 44.1Khz PCM too, when it should be green, this may have already been mentioned as an issue with 5.3 though.

Just received unit yesterday. Fire it up and quite satisfactory except DSD256 format not working. Using foobar2000 with SACD plug-in. Is this just my unit or problem in general?
