iFi Audio Micro iTube2 Buffer

Hello @iFi audio. What is iFi audio's sound impression or intent/design on the sound character on the SET, Classic Tube and Push-Pull Tube settings?

It depends on who of our team you'd ask :)

I'm sure iFi audio has an intention on the sound quality of the 3 options. Would it be correct to say that SET mode is more like the Digital Antidote Plus of the original iTube that has more even order harmonics, Push-Pull mode is less distortion and less even order harmonics, and Classic/Middle option has least distortion and least harmonics with still some present?

I'll ask internally whether what you wrote is what our engineers did :)

Why has such a wonderful product been discontinued? Are you working on a balanced version?

IIRC it's because they ran out of tubes and the ones they do have are set aside for the iDSD/warranty.

I am sure happy I've got mine in 2019 than. This is great addon to ifi micro stack. In fact sometimes I like it more than iCan Pro tube/tube+ mode since I used SS mode mostly. I love tinkering with push-pull and set signature of iTube.
I agree. I have the BL inline with the iDAC2 and iTube2, which might seem superfluous, but the tinkering is kind of fun.

It's probably been mentioned but I'd love to see a light on the FRONT of the iTube2 letting us know if it's powered on or not. If it's in a rack, it's hard to remember or see if it's on when you walk away. Lots of times I've left the power on, draining the life of the tubes, because I simply couldn't see an indication that the power was on. The fact that the light is on the TOP of the unit is really a nuisance.

I get your point @stuck limo , and I left iTube turned on by accident couple of times partially because of it. On the other hand considering that iTube emits most heat from all of ifi micro devices you could stack in iRack the only good place for it is in the top. Such positioning makes sense for top led, but another at the front would still be very helpful. I guess the reasons for top led was that all others micro's from that ifi era have lights on top (iCan SE, iDac2, iUSB, iGalvanic).

Tube life extender:

This countdown timer is mechanical (spring-driven), introducing no electrical noise that I can detect (unlike a digital countdiwn timer I tried.)

Warning: After you install this, you will always remember to power it off manually, when you're done listening to music. 🤪

Noted, thanks and that's a fair point though raised rarely from what I can tell. Perhaps iTube3 will feature a LED on its front, of course if we'll make such a product :)
