Dec 19, 2021 at 5:07 PM Post #1,726 of 2,172
Hello, i have question regarding firmware, i just use signature for a week, and i want to upgrade the firmware from 5.3, i tried to upgrade to 7.2c but after succesful why firmware version seems lower and set to v4.02 instead of 7.2c (see the pict), is that normal or do i miss something or the file from the server is wrong

I tried other firmware, but in the status it seemed the version is right, only 7.2c that has problem like this

Let me ask if you've seen this site: https://ifi-audio.com/download-hub/

Upon typing in your product's serial number which FW versions do you see? Thanks!

If upon typing in your serial number this firmware was listed, your device should accept it. Can you please let our support know about this?

Ok, i already submit my ticket (attachment), hope it got resolve soon, if this unit should be RMA let me know as well since it's still under warranty period, but if this software/file firmware issue, well if thats the case, it not needed, also if i must RMA please give also the statement as well that my unit should be replaced, so the store will not refuse this RMA (if thats the case), however the unit function well, just this thing bugging me, i hope this just firmware or bug.

Also i have another question, since i bought this unit from your Authorized Dealer, if somehow later down the road i need battery replacement or something simillar, that like need service/repair beyond warranty period, can i come to dealer to take care of my unit instead i handling this alone by myself, i mean they can handle the shipping and something like that to send the unit to you but not by myself, right ?! Because in the past i bought micro black label not from the dealer, you guys told me to send the unit by myself, and handle things like costum by myself as well to get it fixed. But since now, my unit bought from YOUR AUTHORIZED dealer, can i assume EVERYTHING will be TAKEN CARE of by your dealer I, Am right ? Especially if somehow, It need to be fixed and send to UK ? i just want to make sure, Dealer will not refuse even the warranty period already expire ? i also got the paperwork as well, all complete now, just want to make sure the policy regarding this.

Sorry if long asking, i just tired some audio company just come and go, with reason of product already discontinue or out of warranty and refuse to do any support to their costumer in certain time frame, thats why im now very selective on buying audio product, support must be good and deciding factor for me.

I've got myself a signature. I'm really impressed :) It powers all my headphones and iems perfectly plus sounds really good. Its making me think about selling a lot of my daps as its more flexible and covers pretty much all my audio hobby needs. Im having a lot of fun using it with a hifiman ananda with bass boost on!

Agreed! Sounds great with Anandas. I had a cheap phone taped to mine, and then sent the cheap phone back, but after using my regular phone with OTG, it is all about the cheap phone with 3m tape. Creates the best sounding DAP you can buy. Sounds way better than dx300.

Hehe I’ve been thinking about getting a cheap phone to stack on it. Which phone are you using?
It sounds better than most daps to be honest

Went with this one TCL 10 Pro Unlocked Android Smartphone with 6.47" AMOLED FHD + Display, 64MP Quad Rear Camera System, 128GB+6GB RAM, 4500mAh Fast Charging Battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087LZNMY...abc_16WP3844NZSS3YDJB3Z6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

After 100 off, it's 299. That's 1050 all in vs 1350 for ibasso dx300 and this sounds significantly better! I have not heard days in the 2 to 3k range, but this bests dx300, which beats everything else cheaper.

Thanks! And yes, we fully agree that DAP/amp products strapped to smartphones can easily fight with DAPs :L3000:

Apologies for not replying any earlier, your post didn't engage the notification bell. As for battery replacements, it depends on whether your product is out of warranty or not. If it's not, then your original place of purchase should handle everything. If it is, then we'll ask you to open a support ticket at our support platform and you'll be asked to ship the product to us, so we can replace necessary components and send it back to you. Thanks!

That's great to hear that you like our micro iDSD Signature this much. Please enjoy it and may it serve you well!

Incase it's out of warranty, instead of making support ticket by myself, can i try to ask the shop/your official seller to take care/handle the unit for replacing component/battery ?!

I have been listening to the iFi iDSD Signature for 2 months now and I can confidently say it rivals most of the desktop DAC + AMP combos out there, especially in its price bracket. It has 0 noise floor tested with an HD800 (EQ'ed to Oratory Target via Wavelet/SoundSource), Meze Empyrean (which ROCKS in EDM/Pop with xBass enabled) and my favorite combination: the ThieAudio Monarch MKII. The Signature in combination with the Monarch MKII is a very, very capable all rounder that rivals much more expensive setups (previously had a DCA Stealth with an Questyle CMA600i, which was WORSE in most cases and needed a EQ applied to reduce 8KHz fatigue). The CMA600i is a much more expensive desktop DAC+AMP but didn't get me any improvement in SQ compared to the iFi + it lacks xBass/xSpace and is not as versatile to use.

All of my testing has been conducted using FW 7.2c, which I found to be the best sounding: the upsampling introduced for the GTO filter seems to slightly alter the timber and smoothens out the slightest edge present in the treble with every other DAC, but without losing any perceptional detail which is incredible.

Even playing games with the Signature connected to my PS5 via USB is a real joy. Pro tip: Test if Tempest 3D is working correctly in the game you are trying to play with the Signature, as it gets activated by default. This is not the Signatures fault, Tempest 3D is just not designed for every game.

A few questions to iFi about this fantastic DAC+AMP:
1. Is it possible to order a spare battery in advance? I would feel competent enough to swap it out myself if needed.
2. My next purchase will be an iFi Go Blu, I have heard it should be a little warmer then the iDSD Signature. Could someone describe how it compares sound wise to the Signature? I am planing to use it as an on-the-go BT solution to complement my iDSD Signature.

You can, but if a product is out of warranty your official seller might suggest contacting us directly. Either way, you'll be taken care of when that happens!

I'd have to check that, but I'm pretty sure we don't sell them separately and all repairs we do in-house.

iDSD Diablo and xDSD Gryphon aside, all our products are tailored for neutrality with a bit of warmth to emphasize music and colors rather than details and edges. GO blu's and micro iDSD Signature's sound profiles aren't exatly the same, but they're not too far off either.

On my unit, I don't hear any pops at the beginning of songs, I hear it when turning on the Signature or when I start audio playback after leaving the device with no playback for a few minutes but never in between tracks or when starting new tracks.

I'm using the 7.2 Firmware right now but, I don't remember hearing pops when I used 7.2b.

Did you manage to find a way around this issue? I'm having the exact same problem.

It's not an issue. It's normal to hear a Pop when first starting the device. I think it has something to do with voltage surge at start up (could be wrong).

When there is no audio playback for a while (with Signature turned "On") the device shuts off a few components internally to save battery. There will be a "Pop" again when you start playback.

I don't hear any other "Pops" and everything works great. If you are bothered by this sound you should start the Signature first and then connect your Headphones. Same for Speakers, turn them "On" after starting the Signature.
