They sound great out of both. Both amps are able to drive the K501 to sufficient levels. The T1 has a good bass boost, which can make some types of music sound more lively with the K501.

K501 are my favorite headphones. I like the feeling of sitting in the audience watching a performance, and the sound of live music from these is terrific.

If I had a better source and a nice amp I'm sure I could get a lot more out of them.

Even running them out of my cheap home theatre setup (Toshiba SD-4980 -> Sony STR-K670P) with the little Presonus, I get a glimpse of what they are really capable of.

I think those headphones are an incredible bargain at their price I recommend buying them even you only own a good Cmoy.

you cant find the k501 for $100 anymore, not even used. I think at one point they were as low as $80. really missed the boat on that one.

@ghoti, thanks, that made me feel better about buying the ibasso. very long delivery times though

Shure E4C. Assuming you mean you can only use one pair of cans up to $200. I need cans for commuting as well.

I'd have to go with the DT880s. They seem to be quite versatile and work well with both my EMP and PR II amps...and they are comfortable to wear.
