If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Just learned this Lucid Audio 'thing' and didn't like it. It seems they just attracted by Etymotic's patents and experience.
It seems they acquired Westone too:
https://audioxpress.com/news/lucid-...io-the-music-division-of-westone-laboratories

I hope they'll continue to produce ER4 series in USA, too. As you know ER2 and ER3 series are manufacturing in China.

Nowadays it's easy to find new ER4 series -relatively- cheap like $160-$200. Also it seems official price reduced to $309 from $349:
https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/earphones/er4-micropro-earphones-373.html

I think they'll deplete stock for repackaging it as Lucid Audio or Etymotic, Lucid Audio company etc. Some website already started to sell it as "Lucid Audio ER4":

Last but not least, some users complaining about customer service of Etymotic recently and it's just worrying. I also tried to contact them about my ER4SR but couldn't get answer. I hope it's just my anxiety. It'd be great if we can hear something from inside.
If you can't get in touch with customer service through usual way like e-mail, use their Facebook page. It'll be much more effective, trust me.

Also their customer service was top notch as I remember it back then. My ER4XR was DOA and they fixed the issue and shipped back in a week...to Canada.

i was thinking of making a passive attenuator/bass bypass circuit, basically it reduces the level of all the frequencies except the bass
it means that you will need to give it more volume to get the same loudness level but the bass will be at the increased volume .... but i have never listened to my ER4SR's at my amp's maximum volume anyway so there's room to spare
and this will be completely analogue so that the sound quality is preserved
also, make it so that the bass bypass is adjustable on each side, so that i can center my bass response
only problem is finding a way to make the inductors with high enough values which correspond to low frequencies....

Sounds like what most bass boost in many dac/amp combos use, To avoid stressing headphones but not many have a 6db setting. The ER4SR with 50% of the ER2XR bass still sounds cleaner & sounds more full than the ER4XR, Since my centre freq at 100Hz to avoid bleed that common issue on the 4XR.

Any recommendations for a pair of headphones that have ety sound? I’m looking for something that has the imaging and clarity of the Er series- the thing I appreciate about er2xr the most is it’s ability to convincingly put a sound anywhere in space

would focal elegia fill that role well?

It depends on your budget but I can recommend HD800.

Nothing is really close
Are there any alternative Tips for the ER2XR that isn't Triple Flange ? Something that wouldn't change the stock sound ?

Thanks
Everything that does not go as deep as trple flanges will change the sound. One option you could try are triple flanges from ER20:
https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/accessories/er20xs/er38-18clx.html
They have slightly longer stem which results in them being more comfortable compared to the standard triple-flanges (try stick out a bit more as well). I tried all from Ety and these have the same SQ while being less annoying.

FYI, if anyone is interested there is a killer deal for the ER4XRs going on right now at adorama ($160). I paid close to $300 for my pair a few years ago and use them mainly as my travel headhpones (or well I used to back when I was traveling :)). Not sure how long the promo is running though.

Also applies to the ER4SR
https://www.adorama.com/etyer4sr.html?emailprice=t

The price drops from $230 to $160 whwn the text ?emailprice=t is added to tne end of the URL

Shame that I cant find these deals in Europe. Shipping and import duty adds another $100 to the bill.
