Well my er2xr's are on the Amazon truck and should be at my home this afternoon. Looking forward to finally giving ety a try.

Than you all for the info provided throughout this thread.

Has anyone tried the dual flange eartips that Ety now sells and includes with some earphones? To me they are much more convenient but I'm wondering how they affect the sound. To me it sounds like there is slightly more bass but would love to see measurements between the dual and triple flange eartips.

Can someone point me to a link? I'm not seeing the double flange on their site.

Quite some price over the triple-flanged versions.

Interestingly on the same page there's a Etymotic Tuning Kit For ER Series Earphone with 5 Different Filters also shipping from June - I wasn't aware of this before.

By incorporating 5 different filters of varying resistance you can go from a more detailed sound using the white filters all the way to a warmer and darker sound if you go with the orange filters. The full specs of the included dampers are below.
  • White – 680 Ohms
  • Brown – 1000 Ohms
  • Green – 1500 Ohms
  • Red – 2200 ohms
  • Orange – 3300 Ohms

I have looked at some reviews of the ER4XR and I see a lot of reviews saying that's it not a bassy IEM. And only around +4db bass boos from ER4SR.
The thing is that I am very used to the sound of the ER4SR and sure they sound bass light on some tracks. My remedy for that is to boost the bass by 0.2 - 0.4. db and that's plenty of bass for me even on the thin sounding tracks. If I set +4db bass boost (via eq) it's insane amounts!

I must be a bass allergic?

I've never got the thin feel from the ER4SR/ER3SE, I like the flat bass from them way more than the XR/other headphones. The SR versions have unmatched clarity and they hit very deep when asked for, The biggest issue in my view is people insisting 100 - 300Hz boosted by +2db and expecting it too not sound muddy with poor clarity?.

OK. After giving the er2xr's a listen, I see the light now. While I have a couple earbuds and a pair of thieaudio Legacy 3's coming in, I'm no longer excited to receive them. The etys are end game for me.

Etymotic has always labeled their filters as one time use only so i wonder if they'll be more durable this time around for repeated uses or still one time use accessories.
The one time use has more to do with the tool to remove them. you screw it into the filter, making a hole in it. So of course it doesn't filter very well after that ^_^. But if you're a little careful, it usually isn't that hard to pull a filter out without damaging it(with the provided tool or with something else).

Looks like the Bluetooth Etymotion cable is almost here (B&H). Like almost everything about Etymotic/Lucid recently it's disappointing – $169 and microUSB.
Shure RMCE-BT2 is pretty much the same thing and is down to $49.
What is it with Etymotic now? They completely dropped the old ER-4 line and Customer Service is lackluster now. Any ideas @EtyDave?

This is true. Ive never had to buy filters by themselves because i always reused mine and cleaned them, if careful with the filter tool. Its just Etymotic trying to cash in on an already established mod for etys.

After more testing I've gone back to the triple flange. You just get a better seal and subsequently sound is a hair better.
