For my, the ER4 just rapes the C.A Andros, in any aspect.
I also own both all be it the andro s version and these are the only 2 iems I have kept and use, both are excellent in my opinion but just doing it differently...er4xr are just so accurate but they cant compete with the andro stage being single ba they just lack the depth and 3 dimensional sound . ...but both are excellent in my opinion and after owning a lot of iems the only ones that i wouldn't part with.
I've tried a few of oratory's eq settings; all of them made made the treble sound unnatural and more fatiguing (though I can't pinpoint where the problem area).
It's the 7KHz area that being boosted, From where he posts his profiles. I have no idea how the users there can criticise brands like Beyer/Grado for there treble or even the ER4SR's sound. Yet have no issue with the that treble peak that ruins the sound.

Have you tried the new one that Oratory posted around 10 days ago? I didn't like the old Harman target at all, but I really love this new one. The bass on the ER4-XR finally sounds right, to me.I think the Etymotic target pretty much craps all over the Harman IE target. I tried that EQ and it sounded awful. Their target is treble murder. Just buy the ER4SR and enable a bass shelf if necessary.

Thanks for the tip. Tried the new settings on my ER3SEs and comparing them to his ER4SR ones (with same preamp gain and low shelf @ 6dB) it seems to bring up vocals and evens out the treble some. I'm tempted to send him my 3SEs to do measurements with since he doesn't have anything posted for the 3 series. Crinacle's graph tool doesn't show much difference 3SE to 4SR. I'll try the XR settings this weekend at a gig and report back. Having upfront vocals helps me know where I am in the song over the guitars and keys.Have you tried the new one that Oratory posted around 10 days ago? I had both for a month and prefer the ER3SEs with and without EQ. Being the cheapest of the two was a bonus. I'm a drummer and BAs reproduce transients better than a dynamic driver. If I were a bassist I might prefer the DDs. Goes to show personal preference is fickle. I'm just glad we have a choice of several great affordable devices.I'm noticing that too, The ER2SE could've easily been $299 instead of $150. There the same just with timbre differences with one being dynamic and the other being BA. I'm really liking it much more over my ER3SE's.
I tried my ER3SE the other day just for fun to compare against the ER4SR that I have been using daily for about two years now. Not enough highs and muddy, somewhat boosted lows. Ran them balanced from my ES100. The ER3SE didn't reveal as much room echo or breathings etc of the singer.
For me ER4SR is the superior IEM.

I've wen't back to my ER3SE's i like them better, Even with a bass boost they still punch hard and with much more speed/clarity. I agree with the transients bit BA drivers to me are like micro versions of planar or Estat based headphones. Also there not much jump between the two the ER3 versions are just less strict ER4's with less treble, Which can fixed by a 3.8 to 5db 6k highshelf filter or 2db at 6.3k & 4db at 16k for graphic EQ.

So following up on the earlier post about double vs triple flange - I've gone back to the triple flage (large). For me, they are no more, or less comfortable than the doubles.
What I am doing now though, is going back to stock cables. I was using aftermarket for a while, and the connector end on after markets are much larger than stock, which makes them protrude a bit more, hence rub up against my ear a bit more.
Is anyone aware of an aftermarket cable that uses the same physical connector as stock, and is about 4ft? The 5ft cable is just awkward.

This is what I use, its balanced and has a bit of memory and also maybe a bit microphinic (all though I put this down to the ety deep insertion touching bone , feel all iems the deeper in become more microphonic)...the mmcx are just as good as the etys own , they also do a 3.5mm versionSo following up on the earlier post about double vs triple flange - I've gone back to the triple flage (large). Which type of mmcx did you receive? Lunashops shows all 4 on their product page and I've emailed them multiple times asking which one they actually use or if I could choose. Every time they blew me off with a non answer which has put me off buying from them.

Thanks!
For those in the U.K., Amazon has the er4se on back order with a pre-order price of £261.49. Just ordered a pair and hopefully it won’t be too long a wait.
