EtyDave, which days will you be at Axpona?

I will be there tomorrow and Saturday.  I will be walking the show for some of it, but will probably stick around the booth for much of the early afternoon on both days.

The design is ready, we are just waiting on production at this point.  I don't have an ETA yet, but I will post when I know what it is.

Hi, guys! Wanna make the DIY ES4-B.

Have a few questions.

1) Which glue (or not glue) would you recommend to fix ED-29689 inside Shure SE535 shell?
2) Which glue it is better to use to glue two halves of SE535 shell together?

Don't know which scheme is right:
1) 100 ohm resistor & 220 nF capacitor in parallel [as written by Rin Choi]
2) 91 ohm resistor & 220 nF capacitor in parallel (the BA itself is ~9ohm)
3) 78 ohm resistor & 220 nF capacitor in parallel (for a total of 105 ohm DC resistance = 100 ohm impedance when the reactance of the ED driver is factored in) [as written in "FitEar TO GO! & Universal Series --- Suyama's custom IEM, made universal! - Page 29"]
4) (100 ohm resistor & 220 nF capacitor in series) and (100 ohm resistor) in parallel [as written in Etymotic ER4 patent]?

I have been an ER6 owner for years and years. Should have gotten the ER4!

I really like the ER6! So great sounding, and so small.

With the money you saved not getting a previous generation ER-4, perhaps you will get a current-generation ER4 now?  They really are fantastic.

Anybody tried this?

Do they really contains resistors and capacitors?

I am a long time owner of Er4p, loving it. But just a couple of things about er4p that made me ordered an Er4Xr, the extra bass and the "replaceable" cable. Reading this long thread made me realised it isn't so replaceable after all. Having Fiio X5 III but still can't take advantage of the balanced output. Certainly doesn't have the freedom of choosing other after market cable. Really feels like cancelling the order now.

Well one advantage with the new ER4XR is that if your cable breaks you can order a new cable from Etymotic and replace it yourself (unlike the ER4P where you need to send the headphones back to Etymotic to have the cable replaced).

Hi

I am an original ER4 owner from the days of the first iPod. My Ety's gave stellar service for more than 10 years before I left them on an airplane.

I am completely out of the loop for IEM'S - the thing is I really do not want to go back to a deep insertion IEM like the Ety's

I am active on several other threads (Sony Wm1Z/A etc.) and someone who I trust mentioned the new 1More Quad drivers. What I like about them is that they do not appear to be deep insertion. Not familiar with their performance.

Even though I have the Sony WM1Z DAP I do not want to spend TOTL dollars on a IEM - I have the Utopia headphones to fill that need.

Any comments on the 1MORE Quad - or any other suggestions. The key is not too need deep ear insertion like the Ety's

PS - how much longer is the Ety price drop going on?
