I've tried the HD650's, and liked them. But I keep thinking about trying out the 600's for some reason. I know plenty of people have tried both of them, but do you think I'd like them? How do they compare to each other? Is the HD600 bass-enemic? I was looking at the freq graphs on Headroom's website and they look almost the same...but I don't know how to read those things.

Could someone please help?

Also, I plan on using them with my Corda Aria...good match?

i heard the hd600 is the less bassy version of the hd650. great for classical and similar music tho.

it would probably suck at hip hop and electronica, etc.

I liked the 600s but not the 650s.To me the former sound much more balanced and not so bassy as the latter. They are quite different in my opinion.

Is the HD600 bass-enemic? Nope! Well; not in my opinion anyway. I find the bass to be just about equal to my MS2i in most respects. I can go from MS2i to HD600 and back again without feeling that I'm suffering from any sonic shock in the least. The "sound" of the bass is a bit different of course but the "level" of bass is about the same. They are both very natural in the bass they produce for the types of music they best portray. Neither are "bass-monsters" but they both sound "right" in the bass dept.

...at least to my ears.

i suppose it depends what you like about the HD650

if you like the HD650s for their bass then you'll probably be dissapointed somewhat with the HD600s

however, if you enjoy the rolled off highs and smooths mids and the soundstage and overall laid back sound signature of the HD650s and don't mind some hindered bass, then by all means go with the HD600s, they may just be your cup of tea

though, the question is... what is it that you don't like about the HD650s? maybe there's another headphone that would better suit you for a second headphone

I just like to hear different stuff, I don't "not like" the 650's...I just like to broaden my horizons. With that being said, maybe I should just buy the dang things and try'em out!

I wouldn't bother personally. For all that have been said, they are too similar in terms of house sound. Chances are you're likely to sell off one of them in the end. If you're looking for something different, another brand of headphone will achieve that objective more effectively than getting another of the same brand (and class). I recommend Grados for a good contrasting set of cans. Otherwise, AKGs are good too.

Cheers!

I prefer the HD650 to the HD600, although the HD600 is an excellent headphone. I like the extra smoothness and the extra bass of the HD650. HD600 is very close to the K701 sound by comparison, no notable bassy bump, which lends a perception which makes it seem more trebly or more accurate, neither of which is true. I also found the HD650 to be a smidgin more comfortable in the headband.

The answer is yes, if you like the HD650, you will in all probably like the HD600.
