Hi all,

I like my klipsch X10, expecially the bass, but am looking for more separation, clarity, should I go for the Westone W3 or UM3X?

Thanks for the help!

As an alternate suggestion, you might consider an amp. What are you driving the X10's with? I run the X10's at home with a Samson Q5 studio amp and they have tons of clarity, way more than they do unamped. I'm going to try them with an Icon Mobile in a couple of days (it shipped yesterday).

Apologies for not answering the question you asked, but it's my opinion that the X10's amped are way crisp.

This is a tough question for me (maybe not for others!). I have both and use them with an amp (P-51 Musting; MiniBox-E+; Xin SuperMicro) and they both sound really very good. I still think that the X10s have a deeper bass, but sometimes that is recording specific (e.g., Bach organ music has more bass with the X10s).

I do like the highs on the UM3X as they are not as rolled off as the X10s for me. I do think the UM3X has better instrument separation. As for clarity, I think I have to give the nod - just - to the UM3X.

So, I guess, I would probably say that the UM3X is likely better for you.
