Hey All.

I did drop my camera. Sony DSC 707
frown.gif

It was inside a Tamrac camera bag. Days ago, I installed a 1A filter for protecting the lens.

The filter is destroyed. Camera is OK.

What I did: Bought a rubber lens hood now and, of course, another filter.

Protect your glasses !!

The little Tamrac that I expected more protection. I'm disapointed.

The "rest" of the filter

New "bumper" lens hood.

Just do it !!

Best

Ari

EDIT>>>> BTW, my Sony MD and JMT Penguin where inside the little outer pocket. They are also fine...

Sorry about the busted filter... but remember, it could have been worse!

But speaking of worse (although this is really just annoying... extremely minor in the grand scheme of things...)

Here's what happened to my family yesterday:

1.) Both cars were in the shop.
2.) Wife's car was reportedly repaired. Then on the way home, the engine light came on..... again.
3.) my 3 year old started with a stomach bug. Blew chunks and had diarrhea while he and my wife were in Home Depot.
4.) Wife threw her back out trying to pick up my son (as he was actively spewing at the time).
5.) Son continued to ralph. And, when he was busily hurling, he would say things like, "Daddy my stomach hurts! Make it stop, PLEEEEAAAASE!". Ok, just pull your heart right out and stomp it on the floor!!!
6.) Wife goes to get a shower in an attempt to get the vomitus out of her hair (from the Home Depot experience). Turns out our water heater is not working.
7.) Get a note in the mail from an insurance company about a claim that was filed 3.5 years ago. They're stating this is the last notice, they've been trying to get in touch with us but to no avail (this is the first time we've heard about it) and if we don't cough up some serious cash, things will get REEAALLY ugly.
8.) My cell phone was stolen.
9.) during one of the times when my wife was trying to get my son into the bathroom, the doorknob on the bathroom totally came apart from the door. Both knobs just fell out of the door with little pieces showing about.

BUT, the day wasn't all that bad! I had arranged with another head-fier to trade some cans for cash... and they arrived (Aiwa AK100)! Didn't have a chance to listen too much... was cleaning up barf, trying to fix the door, etc.

BTW: My son was feeling much better this morning. In fact, he's acting as though he was never sick. Amazing resiliency of children! My wife is doing better (thank goodness for ibuprofen!). Since they're really fine, none of that other stuff really matters.

Anyone else have a good day recently?

I shouldn't be laughing here....I feel for you, your poor wife, and your son. But, dude, you're killin me!!!
biggrin.gif

BTW, the good news is that MY Neutral References arrived today too. So let your wife know that: 1) You're happy that you new cans arrived, and: 2) JMT's happy that his new cables arrived.

...think she'll feel our joy?

Will be certain to share that information with her.... I'm CERTAIN her mood will be bouyed by the news! Well... maybe not. But I'm happy for ya!

Actually, she did get a good laugh after I put on the Aiwas yesterday and she noticed them.

Heh, it's good to have family. Don't sweat the small stuff. Regarding #7, one small piece of advice: don't contact the other insurance company, hand that to your insurance company and let them deal with it.

Ari, what i do with my camera bags is put an extra layer or two of padding like a 1/4 inch thick mouse pads cut to fit on the bottom of the bag to help absorb impacts better...

BDA, sorry to hear of your calamities...some days it pays to just lay in bed and listen to music all day long and tune out the world...

Funny you should ask. Car accident. Old guy cut right in front of me while trying to merge onto interstate.

Hey Bruce Fellow.

I'm glad every thing is OK now.

About my "incident", I just posted here suggesting our head-fellows-photographers to protect their glasses. Accidents heppens...

I'm very happy your kid is OK

BDA_ABAT: LOL. The Osbournes are finished this season. You should pitch your life to MTV.
smily_headphones1.gif

Seriously though, it sounds like the stars were badly alligned for you that day, but I'm glad everything's OK.

Ari: You're right, a few bucks spent on protective filters, lens caps and hoods are well worth it when you consider the cost of a good lens. Rubber lens hoods make very effective shock absorbers...and better pictures.

mbriant:

No, life here is NO WHERE like life on the Osbornes. Very un-entertaining. Fortunately (?) or not, that was just what happened on one particular day. I'm happy to get back to a more sedate lifestyle.

Of course, my wife picked up whatever stomach bug my son had the other day and pretty much spent the entire night in the bathroom last night. Am looking forward (

) to her passing it along to me later today or tomorrow.

Lesson of the week? Forget Friday the 13th... Thursday the 14th is wicked bad!
