Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new pair of IEMs. I need something with quite a bit of bass which is also comfortable for around 100 dollars (I'm willing to go up to 150 though).

A bit of background: I've been using the Senn CX 300 (love the bass, and the comfort). Also, I should note that I use the small size tips, meaning that I have a pretty small ear-canal. I'm using an iPod Touch with no amp and I listen mostly to rock and pop.

I was close to buying the UE Sf5 Pros, but I was afraid that the fit wouldn't be comfortable enough and that they stick out too much.

Right now I'm considering:

1. Westone UM1
2. Jays d-Jays

Thanks for all your help.

I don't know the Westone's, but the D-Jays are not noted for bass response. I have a set of J-Jays and they are very small and comfortable (I have small ears too), but the bass is not that great.
You might want to look at either the Mylarone's XB's or the Extrememac FS1's. The FS1's do not get much respect here, but are my workout phones of choice. I use the shure foam tips.

I really think you should get the super.fi 5 eb's. and then let me know if they fit ok.

For $100, I recommend either stretching the budget to get the Super 5 EBs or trying out the Denons that are on sale right now at Amazon.com for $99.

If you add sony ex-71 tips to the Denon's, they become a pretty comfortable set of headphones. The bass is absolutely mind-blowing, especially amped.

Read this from another thread, but the black ones are now $141 (silver is $179).

i had the um1 for quite some time, you will be dissapointed by the bass, its not bad but the quantity is certainly lacking, i have the denon c551 and they offer me the bass that i felt um1 was lacking

I agree that these would suit you too, but thay are even more out of your price range then the Denon's. These two seem to be the best dynamic canal phones on the market.

I think Denon, UM1, or Super.fi 5 would all work fine. Super.fi would definitely be the top choice as long as it fits your ears well.

Mixed reactions regarding the EB; I've always wondered, does the EB produce too much bass or muddy or whatever or just right?

And for those who say they're muddy and stuff, is it common to all UE's? I went Shure scl4 and I don't know if I did the right choice. Haha.

Just a heads up to everyone that interprets cans/IEMs/buds that don't have rolled off sub-bass as "slow" - yes, 25hz is slow. It's 25hz.

First off, thanks for all of the replies.

Here are the final 3 (I know I started off with two, but there are so many choices

).

Denon AH-C700
Atrio M5
UE Sf5 Pro

From what I've gathered after perusing some threads, these three are the best for me in terms of my price range and preferred sound sig.

With all that in mind, can someone tell me which of the three is the most comfortable? Also, I'd prefer whichever one has proper build quality (I'd hate to see these things break on me.)

A few things to keep in mind: I'm upgrading from a senn cx300 (supposed to be very comfortable and canalphones instead of true IEM) and I'll be using the IEMs unamped through an iPod Touch.

Once again, thanks so much for all of your help.

I can't wait to see how this is answered. I just ordered the Denons myself and can still cancel my order (I constantly suffer from buyer's remorse. I'd been looking at the Atrios for a while before I heard about the Denons. My S.F3s just retired, so I'm on the market again. I'd rather not get another UE IEM, but the S.F5Ps seem to always be rated well/recommended. Sorry for hijacking. lol).

I don't know about the S.F5Ps, but the S.F3s have a RATHER thin and flimsy cord. They're not particularly comfortable either, but it is not something you can't get used to.
