IEMs reshelled into Custom Molds $80 in the USA (TripleFi 10, SE530, etc.) from FISHER HEARING

What's your opinion on Fisher cables? Right now I'm using sunricky's cable, which sounds great, but the over-the-ear plastic is fixed (cannot be modified to fit your ear fit). So since I am thinking of finally getting my Triple.fi 10 Pros remolded, I am looking at the best cable to use it with.

Thanks,
-J

Allow me to recommend head-fier ReNnxz and his cables. I purchased a hyrbid cable with RA Oyaide connector for around $50 that is SOOOO sweet with my remolded TF10s. No cable noise, great SQ, awesome-looking quad braid, very inexpensive, and he'll build you just about anything you'd want.

I don't have very good experiences with custom made cables. Any company cables recommended?

Fisher uses the same cable as the Westone type cable iirc. That's a pretty good cable as it is but if you want a different braid the UE cable pre 2010 is also good. I really like the UE cable I have for the UERM. It's the same braid except just a different connector pre and post 2010.

What? I just said I don't trust custom made cables, so why do you reply with the same reply as above?

Sorry, I didn't clarify. He's the representative of a COMPANY entitled Nocturnal Audio.

Hi folks, I've had a set of reshelled Triplefi10s in the desk drawer for a few years and though I'd let you guys know about my experience. I got excellent customer service from Fisher on these. i had to send them back a few times, and each time they were turned around quickly. The sad thing is that my TF10s never sounded the same...... They became darker and bloated sounding, and despite messing with different filters and sending them back, I never got that silky extended high end back. I borrowed a second pair to compare and confirm this. I also noticed a few severe resonances in the lower mid-range. The fit was great and I'm sold on the idea of customs, but can't recommend reshelling something not intended to be custom

I'm about to send off a pair of TF10's to Inearz and have done a bit of research (deep reading) and found your impression an outlier. Not to say your impression isn't valid, but it isn't that common a complaint. When you sent them back, was it refit related? Or just sound related?

There have been numerous TF10's reshelled by them. Their Facebook page is littered with TF10's - business is good. I am hoping mine don't return without a semblance of the sparkle they are renowned for.

I sold a perfectly good pair and found I missed them - I have a hell of a time getting them in my ears, but bought them back figuring custom was the way to go.

Anyone else have TF10's done that kept the TF10 signature?

I know. I did a lot of research too and found the same consensus.... I'm also very particular. I was just reading about how balanced armature drivers are designed to press against a certain volume of captured air, and that this is why insertion depth affects some phones so dramatically....  (http://rinchoi.blogspot.com/2010/05/how-deep-do-you-insert-you-er4.html) it could have been an issue with the drivers ending up further from the ear drum and thus having a larger cavity to deal with. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and hope they sound great!

Here I go, time to decide if these SE530s that I bought for $91 on Ebay are going to get re-shelled.  My neighbor has a set that he LOVES, and I'm jealous.  I was going to get a set of SE315s and SE425s combined, one of the 315s shells is broken.  What do you think about getting the 315s and 530s hybridized?  I would think it's just like adding an extra driver to the 530s  (am I wrong?).  I like listening to all types of R&R.  I have impressions in hand and I'm getting really anxious about this.  I can't wait until I have these beauties sounding even better (if its possible)

Please let me know what your thoughts are, I like both highs and lows, will throwing in the 325s in help moving the 530s signature around?  I'll admit i'm not a true audiophile, but I do appreciate the great sound that I've had walking up the line from 110s 210s325s then 435s, and now just as I was thinking about throwing the 325s and 435s together I get a GREAT deal on 530s........

In the world of speakers, you just don't toss speakers together and expect something better

A lot of planning should be done. Impedances will change when u add speakers together, frequency responses as well and not always for the better

In theory u could have the high freq driver tuned down jus a touch to decrease the brightness. A simple damper could do this

I was desirous of a custom version of the TF10 that retained all of its rowdy goodness, but left out its odd ergonomics. I go them back in April of this year and got my wishes granted with an extra added bonus - the mids that seemed just out of reach were brought within my grasp - that is to say the kids were brought forward a bit. They are a much better headphone with a great seal and consistent fit.

No more Frankenstein bolts for me.
