i decided to save a little money (over the SA6) and get the UE SF3's. i'll play around with them to find a good fit and if i can't get them to work well, the website i ordered from has a 30 day return policy.

thanks for your help. i was hoping that IEM's aren't as inconvenient as they look, hopefully the over the ear trick will work well. now to listen to flogging molly like never before

If you say you are listening to an iPod/CD player I am assuming this is on the go mostly, so I would definitely go with IEMs. If you are buying $100 IEMs then they will most likely come with many different tips so you can find a comfortable seal fairly easily. IEMs are not really that hard to insert and once they're in, you wont even notice theyre there. Also you lose the bulk of cans and get better isolation. Microphonics and catching it on stuff are not a big deal if you have a shirt clip. Plus IMO you get better SQ for less money with IEMs
