Hoping I will get some recommendations I hadn't thought of or confirm my ideas

I have been through a lot of iems and recently sold my EE Legend X and am looking for something in that $2000 max to replace them.

I listen primarily to Baroque chamber music.. lute, theorbo, viola da gamba.. People like Rolf Lislevand and Jordi Savall. I also listen to a lot of the modern classical crossover types of music by people like Max Richter, Olafur Arnald, Johann Johannsson...

The baroque music favours low mids with the cellos and viols and something like the EE Phantom had nice weight and body for that but maybe was a little thick sounding overall. The EE Legend X was fantastic in the bass for the classical crossover and had very natural tone for the mids as well but I think I want something a little more balanced. The strong V shape has been shown to me after a recent audition of the CA Solaris SE..
That's a bit too pricey at the moment and a bit too fancy as I want to use these at work.

I'm not truly looking for a dynamic driver primarily because I don't want a vent hole as my work place is a bit dusty.

On the other hand, one of my thoughts is the Tia Trio so if someone with the same tastes in music and knows what a cello or viol sounds like recommends them then I might change my mind.

Currently thinking of the Anole VX but am looking for other ideas.

Thanks!!

We have similar music taste I can't help you as I'm looking for same thing but I would like to ask you, did you try Sony EX1K ?
I'm actually thinking on one of the hybrids with electrostatics, I'll keep an eye on this thread might get interesting.
Edit:
I looked at your profile the way strings are presented is why I'm so deeply in love with HD800.

Though I have not heard them, you might find the Shure KSE1200 good for your needs. It's an electrostatic. I really like the electrostatic sound with classical music: I listen to a lot of Bach, dowland, Marais, etc; viola, lutes, etc. I have full-size stax sr-009s, which is an electrostatic and is glorious for classical music. My guess is that the kse1200, though am iem, might have a similar sound

Thanks for the reply. As you saw, I had the HD800 at one time and it's a pretty amazing headphone.

Interesting. I'll admit I hadn't really thought of that one. I've owned Stax in the past; Lambda Sig, 404LE, 507, 007 with a host of different Stax amps and even though the 007/717 was the best thing I've ever heard before or since, I most regret not keeping the 404LE. For baroque music, the intimate stage with that balanced signature was perfect for small chamber music..

Hmm... I'll read about the KSE1200 a bit more.

Hi @SBranson,

Just my 2 cents,

You might want to consider looking into the FitEar Parterre if you can get access to a demo in BC as they would fit your solid music choices very well or CustomArt Fibae Black (Universal), the latter which is possible for demo if you contact CustomArt.

Subjectively & personally, the Shure EStats tend to be a bit linear which is nothing wrong but does take getting used to if one isn't used to it but still a solid choice.

Hope you have a great day !

Thanks. I’ll read about those. The more I read about the Shures I think I’ll pass. I’m not one to go only by graphs but in this case the graph for the kse1200 kinda scares me so without the benefit of being able to audition I think I’ll scratch it off my list even though people I know speak highly of it.

Hi @SBranson,

I agree with you on the Shures, some do like that sound signature, just not for me either...

Hope you have a chance to demo the Parterre & Fibae Black as subjectively & personally, they will be your best best.

Hope you have a great day !

Interesting.. I was looking at the graphs and there is a similarity to the Empire Ears Phantom but both with a little more energy up top which would be quite welcome with the Phantoms.. I've owned the Phantoms in the past and for timbre, they were pretty much the best and I keep wondering if I should give them a try again.
Sadly I cannot demo the Parterre or Fibae Black without buying them but I may take a gamble considering what I suspect they might sound like..

Thanks.
