hi
I've read ton of review, and I must say I'm fed up with all the nit-picking
concerning sound-quality here. It's lacks bass, it's too muddy, it's bla bla bla
Ok I cannot pretend I'm an audiophile. It's not possible for me to test
iem directly , I do not live where this kind of stuff is sold (Morocco) , and I
will get the iem indirectly with the help of someone who travels.
So , let's say that I'm ready to spend max 150 euros. That I want my iem to
have great durability. I want things easy: no amplifier, no need to buy ear
tips, to replace filter, to put the wire around ears/or not. I mean something
that doesn't need give headaches to make it work properly. And at least I
would need to get everything at once. It's just too complicate for me to get
accessories, considering where I live.
So far, I've read ton of thread. Obviously lot of of people here have a
preference with um3x (at 330 euros) but the price is too important. Perhaps I
could stretch my budget, if these things last for long, but that doesn't seem
obvious. And that's still hurt to spend too much money in things like that.
Then there's the Phonak pfe. It's seem they are not that great without an
amplifier, or I'm wrong ? It's very seducing to get top sound quality for less
than 114 euros, but the long threads of defects I've seen is just discouraging.
I'm not even sure that taking the white one instead of the black one, will help.
Then there's the Monster Turbine. I'm not sure that they are worth 150 euros,
considering that people got them here for much less. And I take a look at
monster cable website, and I must say that it's true that they are the nbr 1 in
selling "snake oil". I'm affraid that they aren't as sturdy as they look .
People are talking of "strain relief", not sure I understand this, and if
that's a big problem.
There's also the Monster Dre Tour iems (not the full size one) at 150 euros. I
got the feeling that they are quite sturdy. But it seems people just say that
they are issues regarding comfort, and it's not that much reviewed here. The
sound quality is lesser than turbine which is a bit frustrating, but I have no
clue if that's much important since I can't test. I must say I was attracted
by the design, and at the same time I don't like that it will get "unwanted"
attention from people.
I've heard that audio technika stuff are quite sturdy, but unfortunately they
exagerate trebble from what I've understood. Not much reviews here. I like that
the ath-ck7 is in "titanium" (must be quite solid), but they aren't "true"
intra. I like the design ath-ck10, but at this price you would expect sound
quality to match other top iem wich doesn't seem the case.
Ok, this post is long enough, in short I want something (very) sturdy, that
doesn't need to be a geek to use, that can pretend to be "audiophile quality"
without being a total rip off. If you are 2 or 3 suggestion, ranked by
preference, would be nice.
Thanks
