well i just joined this site today..and was wondering if u guys can help me
i was looking for a IEM to use with my psp and ipod. i was looking in the price range of below $100. Im a college student that takes the train everyday in the city(ny) and was looking for something to isolate the sound.
i was lookin at these:

ultimate ears metro fi.2 - $55
Crossroads MylarOne X3 -$57
Sennheiser CX300- $60
Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3--$72
shure e2g- $74
Etymotic Research ER6 -$79
Creative Zen Aurvana*
V-moda Vibe*
*=recently added
from cnet top earbuds
link:http://reviews.cnet.com/4323-6531_7-6509085.html
(the prices were based on amazon and ebay searches which is where i plan on getting them from)
i plan on using them to listen to music or while jus playing psp games and maybe even just to keep the noise down while studying on the train to class. i listen to all kinds of music so thats where i have the problem.
im looking at price, looks, weight, isolation, and the warranty (sorry about all the things to think over) i guess i'm jus lookin for something that specific.

all those IEM a certain look...umm i dont know how to describe it..but they look like normal earphones or earplugs. (yea im a noob)

any suggestions..i hear lots of rave about this site and the great opinions
thanx in advance

SF3 is pretty good (and safe) choice, ER6 if you like Ety's sound. If you want to save a bit, X3 is also a good choice (but get the bi-flange together). As for the rest, don't bother.

thanx well i never heard Etymotic's headphone quailty but i heard there is no bass or not enough and i luv how the er6 looks ..not the 6i and does the fi 3 really stick out the ear much? the fi3 in clear or black is madd sexy. i was really considering the MylarOne X3 but the phones look hugee and i wanted to know more specs about it before buying like how much isolation it blocks.

SF3 is the biggest out of the three, but won't be much a problem since you have to wear it in an over-the-ear style. Ety's bass is very tight, but still there. In design, 6i is louder than ER6, but ER6 will improve more when amped.

i've never used the psp as a source, but i can imagine that its pretty bassy

so i say go for th er6i
they do look great and the driver of it is smaller than the nail on your little finger

when amped.. what do u mean? well im not really worried about how loud it plays i want to keep my hearing. the x3 looks much bigger than the sf3 the customer service i read from this site seem to show they really stand behind their products but seem to have problems with the drivers..some die and needs to be replaced but then you get it free. so it looks like im down to 3 choices

M x3 (anyone knows how much noise this headphone isolates?)
UE sf 3 - (26db isolation)
ETY er6- luv how much noise they isolate (Offers noise isolation of 34-36 dB)

Volume attenuator should fix the problem. I hear no hiss with my Meizu M6. There is however a moderate amount of hiss from my laptop.

does the higher impedance means less hissing or something..i read that somewhere and i see that the er6 has an impedance of: 48 ohms
so is this true the higher impedance means better quality or something..yea super noob

and does anyone kno the spec for the x3..would really like to compare but couldnt find it online

adding impedance can reduce hiss
but higher impedance doesn't mean better quality
i can add a 400 ohm resistor to my ibuds while my alessandro ms2i are a mere 32 ohms

An amplifier provides more power than a standard mini jack... It isnt to break your eardrums but instead is to provide more power so your headphones and gulp down whatever they want giving you better quality ;P

would an amp work with a psp? cuz im lookin for a headphone to use with my psp that isolates sounds and provides an overall good sound quality for the $$
