I listened UM50 a long time ago, but I remember it was very narrow and dark sounding. UM series are stage monitors so I don't think they're very suitable for listening music alone. 
 
Forsteni has an open sound, good treble and a very good resolution for the price. Although it wouldn't be proper for me to compare them directly, as a lot of time had passed since I listened the UM50, I can still recommend the Forsteni to you. Especially with the PW No.5 cable.
 
I don't listen metal music so I'm no expert at that regard, but I think it would be nice as it has a nice open sound with good treble extension, a natural bass response and good control (no harshness).

Those are unlikely. The other reviewers of Headfonia received them so I can't test. You could check the reviews of the Martian and T8ie MKII on Headfonia though.

 the umpro 50 are a bit boring in that they sit on the fence and when i am not listning to them i instantly forget how they sound, unlike the w3 and w4

I've heard the Shure SE846 but didn't listen extensively so I decided not to include it.
 
But if you want my opinion, I wouldn't rank it too high...

my conclusion of the umpro 50 is pretty much the same as yours tho i cant see any benifit for use with muso's either its not like the instrument separation is anything to write home about
