If there are any Happy Hardcore/UK Hardcore or even vocal/uplifting trance fans on here - curious to know what IEMs you all are using/recommend? I'm a bit of a noob, but I feel like this genre is more mid-bass focused than other EDM sub genres - like most of the bass action is in the 80-100Hz range.

All the IEMs I've come across are more sub-bass focused. My presumption is that it's easier for manufacturers to dial in sub-bass to give that heavy bass feeling without disrupting the mids

I have the Fatfreq Maestro Mini, Focus EDM, Moondrop Variations, IER-Z1R

Just curious to see what's out there or what works with the mentioned music genres...thanks!

Wow niche...
I`m doing a bit of a deep dive into 92-93 UK hardcore at the moment.

Great point on the bass...this was heavily sample based music without a lot of the production techniques we take for granted these days.
Out of what I have, I like Thieaudio V14 the best. I can hear the grain and separation within samples, and tracks sounds fast ...

Hi chi3f,

For vocal trance, I find the U6t (with m15 modules) to fare decent as a fairly well-rounded performer in this genre/style of trance, with enough reach, speed and impact from its low end, along with a slight soft & dense warmth in its presentation to its subtle smooth but detailed sound from mids to highs (with a bit of air and spacious feel).

Also, as some have mentioned here before, Empire Ears iems (such as Bravado & Legend X) are fun sets for low-end focused trance & edm songs, but the forwardness of its bass (and thick/dense mids) can be a little fatiguing when listening to tracks with prominent low end on the Bravado or LX for few or more hours at a time.

I’m selling my U6t (for a good price), as I’m selling the majority of my wired iems, due to not having enough time after work to rotate and listen to different sets. If you are interested, let me know by pm.

Thanks for your message and recommendation. I've got a audition booked for the Legend X and Legend EVO(surprising as I wasn't expecting to be able to where I live), I'll check out the U6T if they have one. I'll PM you if I'm interested in the U6T - otherwise; GLWS.

Feels like I'm on the hunt for a new "fun" IEM, but not ready to commit.

For 64 audio I recommend N8 too (custom version, Nio for universal version the sound could be different to N8). I listen drum n' bass and most of bass driven music with N8. Z1R is another good choice too. For trace music, I would recommend IE900 for better atmospheric and melody but be careful for the tracks produced in 90's, the lower recording quality may caused harsh treble.

Thanks for your recommendations. I've always wanted to check out the IE900, but man I'd love to try the v14 - maybe one day.

Just got back from trying out the Legend X and Legend EVO. I thought the sound was very good on both models, but the price vs. performance made them hard IEMs to buy on the spot. Really liked the Legend EVO, but can't justify the asking price. A lot of reviewers seem to comment on the sheer quantity of bone rattling bass on either of these models; I didn't feel the same way - bass was there, but not overwhelming or anything like that. They seemed hit harder than the Z1Rs(which I have) though.

Whereabouts did you go to audition them? (Curious about those.)

For those playing at home. I auditioned the IE 600 and IE 900 about 5 days ago and ended up buying the IE 600 on the spot as I got a deal on an "outlet"(open box) unit. I was hoping it'd be an easy decision, but they were both very good.

I felt the IE 600 hit a bit harder than the 900 on the low end, but it was the treble that that won me over. Loved the IE 900s sense of space and "big" sound, but I felt the mids were a bit congested.

Thanks for the recommendations. Running the IE 600 + Qudelix 5k with a +5db treble boost and having a great time! Actually...I'm experiencing build quality issues with the particular IE 600 I bought - the sound cuts out under very specific situations, but the issue should be resolved quite simply by the store.
