Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10. You won't really get customs worth talking about for under $175.

Rap and hiphop...check out the Atrio MG7 and Radius DDM and DUNU Hephaes, all under $175 (DUNU is under $100) and all fit the bill well for great bass and mids and high that don't disappoint. The Atrio IMO is one of the best and most under-rated IEM under $300.

I'd go with either the Atrio or the Radius if hip hop is the majority of your music, you want thumping and coherent bass.

Hmmm I wonder if there's any custom IEM's suitable for you, I mean you can always EQ up the bass.

Where are you located?

the problem with that is that i heard it would be better to get better universals then entry level customs and i live in NYC

I can't see what would be wrong with a dual-driver custom if you're willing to pay a little bit more than a dual-driver universal.

He'd be better served getting a dual-dynamic universal than a dual-BA custom given his choice of music tbh :D

do you prefer a wet, smooth sound, or dry and harsh?

Do you want crystalline highs, or don't give a **** and just want bass in your head?
