After running my Sennheiser IE8 for about 100 hours, the only problem I have with the IEM ifself are the tips. While there is a large selection, none of the tips supplied with the package seem to really work for me so I am thinking about buying some Comply T400 tips.

Are there are any of you wise Head-Fi'ers that have used these tips with the IE8 and can tell you me if there is any difference in the sound signature that you perceived between the Comply's and the supplied foam tips (single flange foam).

I thank you in advance.

To the topic title - no. But they may be worth it if other options do not work for you. I would not use them by themselves - their durability is criminally horrid.

Comply tips really are a no go for the IE8s They do what they always do to most phones I've tried them with. They muffle the highs and make most phones sound hollow. Not sure if these will work for you but the best tips I've tried with the IE8 thus far are the UE single flange tips.

The Comply T400 tips for me are the work of Satan and I don't like them at all, but mega kudos to Honeyboy for recommending the UE single-flange tips, they work a TREAT.

Thank you Honeyboy.

Haha Great to know they work for you as well. I've tried almost every tip possible, from the sony hybrids to mods and what not and UE single flanges are the ones that really gets the job done IMO. I use the smallest one with light insertion and I sure aint looking fr anymore tips right now haha

The Comply T400 tips are not very good for the IE8. In addition to muffling the sound, they are a terrible pain to place and remove. They grip extremely tightly, to their detriment. In the process of removing a T400, I snapped the stem off the driver of the IE8.

I almost threw up when it happened, but luckily the IE8s are being replaced free of charge. I cannot recommend these tips for the IE8. The stock foam tips are much, much better in terms of sound and not having to destroy your earphones.

The exact same thing happened to me when trying to get those t400 off! Got an in store replacement so I can't complain but god was I mad...

Plus SQ wise, I have to agree that they kill the treble... But I liked the comfort.

I agree that the T400's are pain to put on and take off. My stem on my left earpiece was already loose (didn't realize it until I tried to take the T400's off). I could easily rotate it and eventually it came off while trying to take off the t400's. Nothing snapped as I noticed there were two lips along either side of the stem that insert into the body rather easily. I remedied it with some epoxy and all is well. What I had to do is stretch them out with some needle nose pliers. T500's are supposed to be easier to put on and take off.
