I was at a local electronics shop looking for a 0.022 polypropelene cap, and ended up only being able to find some orange Phillips 0.022 caps marked MKT 400.

Anyone know what type these are? Are they good enough I should go back and buy the last few they have?

MKT is polypropylene, 400 is probably the voltage rating which would be 400V (usually dc) which is quite high and in most cases unnescessary. I think the type is good enough, but not a rarity, so no need to empty their stock IMO. Polypropylene is a good di-electrical, but for larger capacitances it's not very suitable unless you have the space.

Now if it was polycarbonate i would empty their stock....

EDIT: Damn, like Drewd said. MKT is polyester. I was confused by MKS as polyester and MKT as polypropylene, but both are polyester. Good for anything but signal paths.

I think that MKT is polyester and MKP is polypropylene.

Drewd is right. MKT is Metallized Polyester and MKP is Metallized Polypropylene.
