I have it on 12 o'clock (straight up) but I'm not sure if I should increase it a bit to like 3 o'clock or a little less. Thoughts? I'm using an Atom Amp if that makes any difference.

You want to send as strong a signal as possible to the Atom amp, with out adding noise to the signal.
So try putting the UMC22 volume knob to 100%, see if that adds noise to the signal.
Guess you could always back off the volume knob to 75%, if you prefer.
