I read in the liner notes to the After Silence album from the Dutch master of the trumpet Andre Heuvelman, that it has been mixed and mastered with the HD800.
The album is maybe the best sounding in my collection and since I do practically all my listening on my Sennheisers, no wonder.

Interesting info Kheadfi regarding the HD-800 being utilizied in mixing.

Perhaps not the greatest recording quality however there are some great tracks available for  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlJRLkxMGcI (Michel Petrucciani) ....sadly departed a few years ago.

Tonnes of stuff available for Keith Jarrett also.

Good question Kheadfi.

I'm sure there is however I have yet to search it out.

The majority of my music is in cd / physical format.

One other artist worth looking into is definitely Keith Jarrett http://www.hdtracks.com/the-cure .....a wonderful album.

The Batik download ''The Old Man and the Sea'' is also mixed with the HD800.

Hotel California (Eagles) from the album 'Hell Freezes Over' sounds pretty darn good with HD800s IMO.

How about moving this thread to this forum :
http://www.head-fi.org/f/9/music

I do see there is a specific reference to the HD800 but basically this thread is about well recorded music and not about the equipment. At least from my point of view.
There are various music threads about "audiophile recordings" or "best recording of all times" or "best live recordings". There are plenty of great recommendations.
For a great recording it doesn't really matter if you use a HD800 or not. The HD800 will reveal flaws in bad recordings w/o hesitation.
Just my $0.02. Cheers

I kind of like the idea of a special HD800 music thread, if only just to find out how  similar or not fellow HD800 owners music taste is.
but of course you are right, icebear, it could also be in the music section.

What do you think Kheadfi?

The Cure is a fine album indeed.
And HD tracks is selling it as it is, in 16/44.1. no up-sampling to a higher resolution which they have been accused of doing in the past.

 Indeed it is.

Then again most of Keith's stuff is absolutely incredible.  Personally I am a fan of his trio based albums,  some of that real far out solo stuff doesn't always cut it for me.

Next to Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett is probably the greatest jazz pianist around (alive) currently.

McCoy Tyner was a fantastic player at one time also as well as Ahmad Jamal etc.  Lol I guess the list goes on and on.
