I was shocked to see that I downloaded 2 MB between the moment I clicked on my head-fi bookmark and the moment the loading was finally complete. I find this too much. When the home page is complete, you can scroll and scroll and scroll down. I don't believe anybody does this, which means that there is way too much useless information there. Deleting that makes the site load a LOT faster and also saves a lot of bandwidth. I am aware of the fact that a lot of images there are hosted by imageshack, but I am sure that head-fi itself as well can save a lot of bandwidth (and thus money) by making the home page simpler and lighter. It should be possible to have a beautiful home page that weighs under 200kB, right?

Thats what I do, which works fine for me.
Usually end up at around 400KB, compared to the 2MB you mention for the front page.
