iBook G4 Sound Card Quality
I have recently joined the ranks of the Ety 4P lovers. I have been reading this forum about sound card quality from laptops. I have a new G4 ibook and was wondering as to the quality of the sound card and if it is necessary to purchase a DAC. I have been reading threads and ibooks are often mentioned in passing as being good quality sound. I think my iBook sounds great, but I am new to this and knowing that the sound might be significantly improved is gnawing on me. (I easily become obsessed).
I would also love some amp advice for the iBook with or without a DAC. The SR-71 is possible, of course I can't afford it, but knowing myself I will rationalize the purchase somehow, although I might wait for the super mono.
Anyway, any advice on what I have to start with and then upgrades would be greatly appreciated. By the way I listen primarily to classical music so warmth and full bodied sound is more important than experiencing a pounding bass line that will be felt in my toes, although I occasionally listen to rock music. Thanks for all the information, this forum is amazing.
