Just curious, was this with the gain switch on "low gain" or "high gain"?

I didn't realize there was a gain switch. I just got out the instructions and it is on the low setting. The switch in the same place on the T1 controls the 2nd headphone out. I assumed it did the same thing on the T2. I think my problem with amps and the UM1 is that I listen at a very low level. I try to keep the volume below 70dB.

Scompton, thanks for posting your listening results! Please do check it out with the gain switch in low and let us know how it performs then, if you can.

I agree about the volume wheel, not my favorite, although with the super-small form factor not much other choice. I didn't get interference problems, but I used the T2 only with my Nano.

The interference is with the hard drive spinning only, and like I said, the T1 has the same problem. It's only a problem with the amp flush with the iPod. The T1 also has the problem if the amp is sitting on top of my computer or next to my monitor, which for most people won't be a problem. The only reason I noticed it was because the T1 was my first amp so I was using it as a desk top amp as well as a portable.

I shipped them off to the next person today.

A couple of last observations.

I was using the low gain setting. On the low gain setting with my UM1, I start with the volume all the way off and can only go 2 or 3 indentations on the wheel before the volume is too high for me. The indentations can't be more than a couple of millimeters.

I did listen some more while walking around using my longer line out dock cable. This cable is over a foot long so I could clip the iPod to my belt and have the amp in my pocket. Unlike my T1, the T2 didn't make strange noises when I walked with it in my pocket.

Recieved the amp today from scompton and am compairing to a little dot micro. First off I think the bass boost and stereo wide circuits do nothing for me. The bass boost is rolled off way too low....it gives some omph but does nothing for midrange. The wide setting just thins the midrange way too much for me. In normal mode it is a decent little amp. I listened with DT-990 pro, AKG K81DJ, Senn PMX-100, Shure E4c and Senn CX-300. I found the bass to be decent...defind but not as punchy as the LD. Mids are better than the LD and the highs are brighter without bieng simbilant. Very nice looking amp and the size would be a great selling point for many. I don't know if I could justify spending $110 for this amp. Thank you Skylab for the chance to hear it.
