Audio is being severely disrupted right now by companies like ibasso, cayin, fiio, etc, and I'm perfectly ok with that. Better stuff for cheaper and ridiculously short product cycles. I think it's perfectly reasonable as time goes along for a new 500 dollar IEM to directly compete with a 1500 dollar IEM from a couple of years ago. Setting the bar higher and higher is good for all of us. That's also part of business, make something as good as the competition but for much cheaper and you start gaining market share.

Speaking of which, I'm thinking I need to look up how to invest in ibasso.

The problem is, companies selling iems for 1500+ are just preying on audiophiles. You not gonna make me think that 64 audio spent more money on R/D than Apple did for the iPhone X?

Yes, sometimes what you're paying for is the name, or a fashion statement.... Rather than the sound. That's the problem with "you get what you pay for".

I'm also curious about how does it04 compare against Empire Ears Bravado which is a hybrid (1dd + 1ba) with a similar price ($500 for universal shell + EA Ares II cable). Did anyone hear both models?
