There was a theory/explanation a while back.
Basically, the idea seems to be that the IT04 sounds more like a headphone than an IEM.
So, "the un-IEM" = unlike an IEM in sound
4 drivers - pretty self explanatory; 1 DD and 3 x BA
"The IT can" = can being slang for headphone, and IT standing for InTune (the logo printed on the side of the IEM's).
So, not perfect English but that's the basic meaning (please correct me if I got anything wrong!).
I speak some Mandarin, and I can tell you, if my Chinese was even a fraction as good as the English of @Paul - iBasso I'd be deliriously happy every day. And probably earning a lot more money too
Plus, as with many Chinese people, when you factor in hometown dialects, or parents from different areas, for all you know English could be his 3rd or 4th language, making it even more impressive
How "un-IEM" do these sound compared to the discontinued Havi B3 Pro 1?
I have tried too many TOTL IEMs this month and yet none of them sound as tonally correct to me as the B3P1s.
They all fall flat when I test them with my recorded videos where my family members are talking (I always make
sure I stay silent, of course. For one obvious reason, occlusion effect on your own speaking voice).
Since the Havis are romantic, correct, wide and huuge-sounding, I definitely will be carrying over my heavy baggage.
Wonder if the IT04s will fill up the Havis' shoes snugly, if ya know what I mean.
As a point of reference, my daily 3hrs listening with B3P1 is via Fiio E17K, lowest gain, volume averaging 27 depending on location and recordings (loudness wars vs proper mastering), bass 0 or +2 depending on commuting or in grave-silent location, treble 0, and with largest Sony hybrids, shallow/surface fitting and making sure seal is perfect, with minimal ingress sound leakage (rubbing my fingers after sealing, I can only hear them very softly).
A question for the lucky guys that had the chance to try the IT04: are they fully closed and insulated to the outside? I mean: can a person next to you hear the music with the IEM in your ears?

These are not open or faceplate vented IEMs, so there shouldn't be any sound leakage. Regarding insulation, that will also depend on the seal and a proper eartip selection (IT04 comes with a TON of tips, had to go through a few until I found the perfect seal). I will have some initial impressions after about 150hrs of burn in (based on my experience with IT03 and IT01, iBasso DD needs some burn in to settle in). By memory of trying these at Canjam NYC, they had a more coherent balanced tuning in comparison to IT03.

Thank you for your answer!
I know they are closed, but I have a pair of Fiio FH1 and they are closed as well, but probably due to a very tiny hole on the body of the IEM, people around me can hear the music (actually just the beat). I use foam tips and they fit perfectly, so I'm pretty sure that the hole is the cause of this. I was wondering if the IT04 is completely closed or there is the possibility for people around me to hear some noise, provided the sealing is appropriate.

All depends on location of the DD vent, I guess. Will keep it in mind when testing, the usual wife-test if she hears it sitting next to me on the couch
Isolation will depend upon fit and tip used. I normally like the wide bore medium tips for my ears. They seal very well and isolate from most train noise.
