What V signature? I don't hear that with the IT04.
Really? I was going off of these impressions, especially the part about the distant mids.

Can you describe the sound signature? Compared to IT01 if possible!

Could have been tips used or most anything but the mids are distant, to me, at all. The are present and upfront, cleanly presented, about where they should be. The bass only becomes overly pronounced when it is done that way in the recording. They are an exciting IEM, dynamic and I have never heard them get congested with complex music, heavy orchestral or some of the acid rock I like (well recorded in DSD). Highs are well extended but not hot. I sometimes get sibilance, then go to the Utopia or something else and it is there, so I then realize again, it is in the recording (a few of Lyle Lovett's songs). They are very different compared to the IT01, more neutral but no less exciting in a musical sense. Drums if really thwacked, come across that way, with that slight hollow wap sound. Good stuff. The IT04 also have a wonderful quality feel to them.

Thanks for the pre order location, I've been checking B&h and Amazon every day for the US to get a jump on it whenever it lists, still nothing....

I'm interested in how it compares to the IT03>CB12>DX200. Initial responses from those who have heard the IT04 with the DX200 are very positive. I can't wait.

I'll be making this comparison as soon as IT-04 arrives :)

Will be very interesting reading as I have the D-2000J and had originally planned to update to the D-3001 to get the most out of my Dx200 but was put off by the widely reported ergonomic issues.

Theoretically the IT04 should have great synergy with the Dx200.

Any idea whether the wood shell version would come out at a later date? Or is the idea scrapped?[/QUOTE

Doubt it...but hey...ya never know!

The pair that I got to keep from the NYC CanJam is broken in and is sounding AWESOME. It's now my go-to for commuting every day back and forth to work.

Interesting buzz on taobao, there was a statement that first batch sold out, that IT04s are difficult to produce (which is good as they appear to be individually matched, awesome!) and prices are premium ATM, obviously re-sells with hefty mark up.
